About Us

Kuranoloji takes its name from the combination of two words: Qur'an, the Holy Qur'an, and -ology, meaning science. In short, it means the science of Quranic analysis. Our aim is to make the Qur'an accessible to everyone not only as a text to be read, but as one that can be studied through its words, roots, numbers and structure. That is why every section of the site serves a single question: "What does this verse say, and how can I verify it?"

The project began in June 2020 with an idea and a draft sketch. First came a long infrastructure effort: compiling Quran translations, building the word-by-word database and developing the root search algorithm; then the kuranoloji.com domain was registered on 14 July 2021. Later versions added verse image sharing, verse search, Abjad calculation, dictionary support in word analysis, letter counting, jumping to a verse from the start/end, a personal translator filter, user accounts and the forum area. Development continues today.

Our logo visually represents a side cross-section of the human brain, because the Qur'an is a book meant to be pondered. The letter O connected to the brain symbolizes the brainstem where the brain begins — medically, the spinal cord. Together with this letter, the brain section of the logo contains a total of 19 circles, a reference to the phrase "over it are nineteen" in verse 30 of Surah Al-Muddaththir. The + and − signs above the brain symbolize that everything is created in pairs: positive-negative, female-male, black-white, night-day.
