Yusuf Ali (English) They said: "O Shu´aib! Does thy (religion of) prayer command thee that we leave off the worship which our fathers practised, or that we leave off doing what we like with our property?(1586) truly, thou art the one that forbeareth with faults and is rightminded!"( 1587)*

It is He(1885) Who invites you, in order that He may forgive you your sins and give you respite for a term appointed!" They said: "Ah! ye are no more than human, like ourselves! Ye wish to turn us away from the (gods) our fathers used to worship: then bring us some clear authority."(1886)*

Yusuf Ali (English) There are among men some who serve Allah, as it were, on the verge:(2782) if good befalls them, they are, therewith, well content; but if a trial comes to them, they turn on their faces: they lose both this world and the Hereafter: that is loss for all to see!*

Yusuf Ali (English) When Our Clear Signs are rehearsed to them, they say, "This is only a man who wishes to hinder you from the (worship)(3854) which your fathers practised." And they say, "This is only a falsehood invented!" and the Unbelievers say of the Truth when it comes to them, "This is nothing but evident magic!"*
