Such are the people of truth, the Allah.fearing.*

Yusuf Ali (English) Or do ye think that ye shall enter the Garden (of bliss) without such (trials) as came to those who passed away before you? they encountered suffering and adversity, and were so shaken in spirit that even the Messenger and those of faith who were with him cried: "When (will come) the help of Allah." Ah! Verily, the help of Allah is (always) near!

Yusuf Ali (English) They ask thee concerning women´s courses. Say: They are a hurt and a pollution(247): So keep away from women in their courses, and do not approach them until they are clean. But when they have purified themselves, ye may approach them in any manner, time, or place(248) ordained for you by Allah. For Allah loves those who turn to Him constantly and He loves those who keep themselves pure and clean.*

Yusuf Ali (English) When ye divorce(261) women, and they are about to fulfil the term of their (´Iddat), either retain them back or let them go; but do not retain them to injure them, (or) to take undue advantage;(262) if any one does that; He wrongs his own soul. Do not treat Allah's Signs as a jest,(263) but solemnly rehearse(264) Allah.s favours on you, and the fact that He sent down to you the Book and Wisdom, for your instruction. And fear Allah, and know that Allah is well-acquainted with all things.*
6 Al-Baqarah Verse 232 (2:232:3) النِّسَٓاءَ النساء nnisâe [the] women ن س و
Yusuf Ali (English) When ye divorce women, and they fulfil the term of their (´Iddat), do not prevent them(265) from marrying persons of their choice, if they mutually agree on equitable terms. This instruction is for all amongst you, who believe in Allah and the Last Day. That is (the course Making for) most virtue and purity amongst you and Allah knows, and ye know not.*
7 Al-Baqarah Verse 235 (2:235:9) النِّسَٓاءِ النساء nnisâ-i [to] the women ن س و
Yusuf Ali (English) There is no blame on you if ye make an offer of betrothal or hold it in your hearts.(268) Allah knows that ye cherish them in your hearts: But do not make a secret contract with them except that you speak to them in terms honourable, nor resolve on the tie of marriage till the term prescribed is fulfilled. And know that Allah Knoweth what is in your hearts, and take heed of Him; and know that Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Forbearing.*
8 Al-Baqarah Verse 236 (2:236:6) النِّسَٓاءَ النساء nnisâe [the] women ن س و
Yusuf Ali (English) There is no blame on you if ye divorce women before consummation or the fixation of their dower; but bestow on them (A suitable gift), the wealthy according to his means, and the poor according to his means - A gift of a reasonable amount is due from those who wish to do the right thing.

Yusuf Ali (English) Fair in the eyes of men is the love of things they covet(354): Women and sons; Heaped-up hoards of gold and silver; horses branded (for blood and excellence); and (wealth of) cattle and well-tilled land. Such are the possessions of this world´s life; but in nearness to Allah is the best of the goals (To return to).*

Yusuf Ali (English) If ye fear that ye shall not be able to deal justly with the orphans,(508) Marry women of your choice, Two or three or four; but if ye fear that ye shall not be able to deal justly (with them), then only one, or (a captive) that your right hands possess, that will be more suitable, to prevent you from doing injustice.(509)*

Yusuf Ali (English) Allah (thus) directs you as regards your Children´s(516) (Inheritance): to the male, a portion equal to that of two females: if only daughters, two or more,(517) their share is two-thirds of the inheritance; if only one, her share is a half. For parents, a sixth share of the inheritance to each, if the deceased left children; if no children, and the parents are the (only) heirs, the mother has a third; if the deceased Left brothers (or sisters) the mother has a sixth. (The distribution in all cases (´s) after the payment of legacies and debts. Ye know not whether your parents or your children are nearest to you in benefit. These are settled portions ordained(518) by Allah. and Allah is All-knowing, All-wise.*
19 An-Nisa Verse 19 (4:19:10) النِّسَٓاءَ النساء nnisâe the women ن س و
Yusuf Ali (English) O ye who believe! Ye are forbidden to inherit women against their will.(527) Nor should ye treat them with harshness, that ye may Take away part of the dower(528) ye have given them,-except where they have been guilty of open lewdness; on the contrary live with them on a footing of kindness and equity. If ye take a dislike to them it may be that ye dislike a thing, and Allah brings about through it a great deal of good.*

23 An-Nisa Verse 32 (4:32:14) وَلِلنِّسَٓاءِ وللنساء ve li-nnisâ-i and for women ن س و
Yusuf Ali (English) And in no wise covet(542) those things in which Allah Hath bestowed His gifts More freely on some of you than on others: To men is allotted what they earn, and to women what they earn: But ask Allah of His bounty. For Allah hath full knowledge of all things.*
24 An-Nisa Verse 34 (4:34:4) النِّسَٓاءِ النساء annisâ-i the women ن س و
Yusuf Ali (English) Men are the protectors(545) and maintainers of women, because Allah has given the one more (strength) than the other, and because they support them from their means. Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient, and guard in (the husband´s) absence what Allah would have them guard.(546) As to those women on whose part ye fear disloyalty and ill-conduct, admonish them (first),(547) (Next), refuse to share their beds, (And last) beat them (lightly);(547-A) but if they return to obedience, seek not against them(548) Means (of annoyance): For Allah is Most High, great (above you all).*

Yusuf Ali (English) Not those who spend of their substance, to be seen(557) of men, but have no faith in Allah and the Last Day: If any take the Evil One for their intimate, what a dreadful intimate he is!*
26 An-Nisa Verse 43 (4:43:35) النِّسَٓاءَ النساء nnisâe the women ن س و
Yusuf Ali (English) O ye who believe! Approach not prayers with a mind befogged,(562) until ye can understand all that ye say,- nor in a state of ceremonial impurity (Except when travelling on the road), until after washing your whole body. If ye are ill, or on a journey, or one of you cometh from offices of nature, or ye have been in contact with women, and ye find no water,(563) then take for yourselves clean sand or earth, and rub therewith your faces and hands. For Allah doth blot out sins and forgive again and again.*
27 An-Nisa Verse 75 (4:75:11) وَالنِّسَٓاءِ والنساء ve-nnisâ-i and the women ن س و
Yusuf Ali (English) And why should ye not fight in the cause of Allah and of those who, being weak,(592) are ill-treated (and oppressed)?- Men, women, and children, whose cry is: "Our Lord! Rescue us from this town, whose people are oppressors; and raise for us from thee one who will protect; and raise for us from thee one who will help!"(593)*

Yusuf Ali (English) When angels take the souls of those who die in sin against their souls,(615) they say: "In what (plight) Were ye?" They reply: "Weak and oppressed Were we in the earth." They say: "Was not the earth of Allah spacious enough for you to move yourselves away (From evil)?" Such men will find their abode in Hell,- What an evil refuge! -*

Yusuf Ali (English) Except those who are (really) weak and oppressed - men, women, and children - who have no means in their power, nor (a guide-post)(616) to their way.*
30 An-Nisa Verse 115 (4:115:19) وَسَٓاءَتْ وساءت ve sâet and evil it is س و أ
Yusuf Ali (English) If anyone contends with the Messenger even after guidance has been plainly conveyed to him, and follows a path other than that becoming to men of Faith, We shall leave him in the path he has chosen, and land him in Hell,- what an evil refuge!

Yusuf Ali (English) They ask thy instruction concerning the women say: Allah doth instruct you about them: And (remember) what hath been rehearsed unto you(636) in the Book, concerning the orphans of women to whom ye give not the portions prescribed, and yet whom ye desire to marry, as also concerning the children who are weak and oppressed;(637) that ye stand firm for justice to orphans. There is not a good deed which ye do, but Allah is well-acquainted therewith.*

Yusuf Ali (English) Ye are never able to be fair and just as between women, even if it is your ardent desire: But turn not away (from a woman) altogether, so as to leave her (as it were) hanging (in the air).(639) If ye come to a friendly understanding, and practise self- restraint, Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.*
34 An-Nisa Verse 176 (4:176:37) وَنِسَٓاءً ونساء ve nisâen and women ن س و
Yusuf Ali (English) They ask thee for a legal decision. Say: Allah directs (thus) about those who leave no descendants or ascendants as heirs. If it is a man(681) that dies, leaving a sister but no child, she shall have half the inheritance: If (such a deceased was) a woman, who left no child, her brother takes her inheritance: If there are two sisters, they shall have two-thirds of the inheritance (Between them): if there are Brothers and sisters, (they share), The male having twice the share of the female. Thus doth Allah make clear to you (His claw), lest ye err. And Allah hath knowledge of all things.*
35 Al-Ma'idah Verse 6 (5:6:37) النِّسَٓاءَ النساء nnisâe (with) the women ن س و
Yusuf Ali (English) O ye who believe! when(702) ye prepare for prayer, wash your faces, and your hands (and arms) to the elbows; Rub your heads (with water); and (wash) your feet to the ankles. If ye are in a state of ceremonial impurity,(703) bathe your whole body. But if ye are ill, or on a journey, or one of you cometh from offices of nature, or ye have been in contact with women, and ye find no water, then take for yourselves clean sand or earth,(704) and rub therewith your faces and hands, Allah doth not wish to place you in a difficulty, but to make you clean, and to complete his favour to you, that ye may be grateful.*
36 Al-Ma'idah Verse 66 (5:66:22) سَٓاءَ ساء sâe evil س و أ
Yusuf Ali (English) If only they had stood fast by the Law, the Gospel, and all the revelation that was sent to them from their Lord, they would have enjoyed happiness from every side.(776) There is from among them a party on the right course: but many of them follow a course that is evil.*
37 Al-An'am Verse 31 (6:31:25) سَٓاءَ ساء sâe Evil س و أ
Yusuf Ali (English) Lost indeed are they who treat it as a falsehood that they must meet Allah,- until on a sudden the hour is on them, and they say: "Ah! woe unto us that we took no thought of it"; for they bear their burdens(854) on their backs, and evil indeed are the burdens that they bear?*

Yusuf Ali (English) Before thee We sent (messengers) to many nations, and We afflicted the nations with suffering and adversity, that they might learn humility.

Yusuf Ali (English) Out of what Allah hath produced in abundance in tilth and in cattle, they assigned Him a share: they say, according to their fancies:(958) "This is for Allah, and this" - for our "partners"! but the share of their" partners "reacheth not Allah, whilst the share of Allah reacheth their "partners" ! evil (and unjust) is their assignment!*

They said, "We have stayed (perhaps) a day, or part of a day." (At length) they (all) said, "(Allah) (alone) knows best how long ye have stayed here.... Now send ye then one of you with this money of yours(2353) to the town: let him find out which is the best(2354) food (to be had) and bring some to you, that (ye may) satisfy your hunger therewith: And let him behave with care and courtesy, and let him not inform any one about you.*
