Yusuf Ali (English) And remember We took(87) a covenant from the Children of Israel (to this effect): Worship none but Allah. treat with kindness your parents and kindred, and orphans and those in need; speak fair to the people; be steadfast in prayer; and practise regular charity. Then did ye turn back, except a few among you, and ye backslide (even now).*
5 Al-Baqarah Verse 110 (2:110:2) الصَّلٰوةَ الصلوة ssalâte the prayer ص ل و
Yusuf Ali (English) And be steadfast in prayer and regular in charity: And whatever good ye send forth for your souls(113) before you, ye shall find it with Allah. for Allah sees Well all that ye do.*
6 Al-Baqarah Verse 125 (2:125:11) مُصَلًّىۜ مصلى musallâ(en) (as) a place of prayer ص ل و
Yusuf Ali (English) Remember We made the House(125) a place of assembly for men and a place of safety; and take ye the station of Abraham as a place of prayer; and We covenanted with Abraham and Isma´il, that they should sanctify My House for those who compass it round, or use it as a retreat, or bow, or prostrate themselves (therein(126) in prayer).*
7 Al-Baqarah Verse 153 (2:153:7) وَالصَّلٰوةِۜ والصلوة ve-ssalât(i) and the prayer ص ل و
Yusuf Ali (English) O ye who believe! seek help with patient perseverance(157) and prayer; for Allah is with those who patiently persevere.*
8 Al-Baqarah Verse 157 (2:157:3) صَلَوَاتٌ صلوات salevâtun (are) blessings ص ل و
Yusuf Ali (English) They are those on whom (Descend) blessings from Allah, and Mercy, and they are the ones that receive guidance.

Yusuf Ali (English) It is not righteousness that ye turn your faces Towards east or West; but it is righteousness(177)- to believe in Allah(178) and the Last Day, and the Angels, and the Book, and the Messengers; to spend of your substance(179), out of love for Him, for your kin, for orphans, for the needy, for the wayfarer, for those who ask, and for the ransom of slaves; to be steadfast in prayer(180), and practice regular charity; to fulfil the contracts which ye have made; and to be firm and patient(181), in pain (or suffering) and adversity, and throughout all periods of panic. Such are the people of truth, the Allah.fearing.*
10 Al-Baqarah Verse 238 (2:238:3) الصَّلَوَاتِ الصلوات ssalevâti the prayers ص ل و
Yusuf Ali (English) Guard strictly your (habit of) prayers, especially the Middle Prayer;(271) and stand before Allah in a devout (frame of mind).*
11 Al-Baqarah Verse 238 (2:238:4) وَالصَّلٰوةِ والصلوة ve-ssalâti and the prayer ص ل و
Yusuf Ali (English) Guard strictly your (habit of) prayers, especially the Middle Prayer;(271) and stand before Allah in a devout (frame of mind).*
12 Al-Baqarah Verse 277 (2:277:7) الصَّلٰوةَ الصلوة ssalâte the prayer ص ل و
Yusuf Ali (English) Those who believe, and do deeds of righteousness, and establish regular prayers and regular charity, will have their reward with their Lord: on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve(327).*

Yusuf Ali (English) While he was standing in prayer in the chamber, the angels called unto him: "(Allah) doth give thee glad tidings of Yahya, witnessing the truth of a Word from Allah(381), and (be besides) noble, chaste, and a prophet,- of the (goodly) company of the righteous."*
14 An-Nisa Verse 43 (4:43:7) الصَّلٰوةَ الصلوة ssalâte the prayer ص ل و
Yusuf Ali (English) O ye who believe! Approach not prayers with a mind befogged,(562) until ye can understand all that ye say,- nor in a state of ceremonial impurity (Except when travelling on the road), until after washing your whole body. If ye are ill, or on a journey, or one of you cometh from offices of nature, or ye have been in contact with women, and ye find no water,(563) then take for yourselves clean sand or earth, and rub therewith your faces and hands. For Allah doth blot out sins and forgive again and again.*
15 An-Nisa Verse 77 (4:77:10) الصَّلٰوةَ الصلوة ssalâte the prayer ص ل و
Yusuf Ali (English) Hast thou not turned Thy vision to those who were told to hold back(595) their hands (from fight) but establish regular prayers and spend in regular charity? When (at length) the order for fighting was issued to them, behold! a section of them feared men as - or even more than - they should have feared Allah. They said: "Our Lord! Why hast Thou ordered us to fight? Wouldst Thou not Grant us respite to our (natural) term,(596) near (enough)?" Say: "Short is the enjoyment of this world: the Hereafter is the best for those who do right: Never will ye be dealt with unjustly in the very least!*
16 An-Nisa Verse 101 (4:101:11) الصَّلٰوةِۗ الصلوة ssalâti the prayer ص ل و
Yusuf Ali (English) When ye travel through the earth, there is no blame on you if ye shorten your prayers,(617) for fear the Unbelievers May attack you: For the Unbelievers are unto you open enemies.*
17 An-Nisa Verse 102 (4:102:6) الصَّلٰوةَ الصلوة ssalâte the prayer ص ل و
Yusuf Ali (English) When thou (O Messenger. art with them, and standest to lead them in prayer, Let one party of them stand up (in prayer) with thee, Taking their arms with them: When they finish their prostrations, let them Take their position in the rear. And let the other party come up which hath not yet prayed - and let them pray with thee, Taking all precaution, and bearing arms: the Unbelievers wish, if ye were negligent of your arms and your baggage, to assault you in a single rush.(618) But there is no blame on you if ye put away your arms because of the inconvenience of rain or because ye are ill; but take (every) precaution for yourselves. For the Unbelievers Allah hath prepared a humiliating punishment.*

Yusuf Ali (English) The Hypocrites - they think they are over-reaching Allah, but He will over- reach them: When they stand up to prayer, they stand without earnestness, to be seen of men, but little do they hold Allah in remembrance;
24 An-Nisa Verse 162 (4:162:16) الصَّلٰوةَ الصلوة ssalâ(te) the prayer ص ل و
Yusuf Ali (English) But those among them who are well-grounded in knowledge, and the believers, believe in what hath been revealed to thee and what was revealed before thee: And (especially) those who establish regular prayer and practise regular charity and believe in Allah and in the Last Day: To them shall We soon give a great reward.
25 Al-Ma'idah Verse 6 (5:6:8) الصَّلٰوةِ الصلوة ssalâti the prayer ص ل و
Yusuf Ali (English) O ye who believe! when(702) ye prepare for prayer, wash your faces, and your hands (and arms) to the elbows; Rub your heads (with water); and (wash) your feet to the ankles. If ye are in a state of ceremonial impurity,(703) bathe your whole body. But if ye are ill, or on a journey, or one of you cometh from offices of nature, or ye have been in contact with women, and ye find no water, then take for yourselves clean sand or earth,(704) and rub therewith your faces and hands, Allah doth not wish to place you in a difficulty, but to make you clean, and to complete his favour to you, that ye may be grateful.*
26 Al-Ma'idah Verse 12 (5:12:18) الصَّلٰوةَ الصلوة ssalâte the prayer ص ل و
Yusuf Ali (English) Allah did aforetime take a covenant from the Children of Israel,(709) and we appointed twelve captains among them. And Allah said: "I am with you: if ye (but) establish regular prayers, practise regular charity, believe in my messengers, honour and assist them, and loan to Allah a beautiful loan,(710) verily I will wipe out from you your evils, and admit you to gardens with rivers flowing beneath; but if any of you, after this, resisteth faith, he hath truly wandered from the path or rectitude."(711)*
27 Al-Ma'idah Verse 55 (5:55:9) الصَّلٰوةَ الصلوة ssalâte the prayer ص ل و
Yusuf Ali (English) Your (real) friends are (no less than) Allah, His Messenger, and the (fellowship of) believers,- those who establish regular prayers and regular charity, and they bow down humbly (in worship).
28 Al-Ma'idah Verse 58 (5:58:4) الصَّلٰوةِ الصلوة ssalâti the prayer ص ل و
Yusuf Ali (English) When ye proclaim your call to prayer they take it (but) as mockery and sport; that is because they are a people without understanding.
29 Al-Ma'idah Verse 91 (5:91:17) الصَّلٰوةِۚ الصلوة ssalâti the prayer ص ل و
Yusuf Ali (English) Satan´s plan is (but) to excite enmity and hatred between you, with intoxicants and gambling, and hinder you from the remembrance of Allah, and from prayer: will ye not then abstain?
30 Al-Ma'idah Verse 106 (5:106:32) الصَّلٰوةِ الصلوة ssalâti the prayer ص ل و
Yusuf Ali (English) O ye who believe! When death approaches any of you, (take) witnesses among yourselves when making bequests,- two just men of your own (brotherhood) or others from outside if ye are journeying through the earth, and the chance of death befalls you (thus). If ye doubt (their truth), detain them both after prayer, and let them both swear by Allah. "We wish not in this for any worldly gain, even though the (beneficiary) be our near relation: we shall hide not the evidence before Allah. if we do, then behold! the sin be upon us!(812)"*
31 Al-An'am Verse 72 (6:72:3) الصَّلٰوةَ الصلوة ssalâte the prayer ص ل و
Yusuf Ali (English) "To establish regular prayers and to fear Allah. for it is to Him that we shall be gathered together."
32 Al-An'am Verse 92 (6:92:21) صَلَاتِهِمْ صلاتهم salâtihim their prayers ص ل و
Yusuf Ali (English) And this is a Book which We have sent down, bringing blessings,(912) and confirming (the revelations) which came before it: that thou mayest warn the mother(913) of cities and all around her. Those who believe in the Hereafter believe in this (Book), and they are constant in guarding their prayers.(914)*
33 Al-An'am Verse 162 (6:162:3) صَلَات۪ي صلاتي salâtî my prayer ص ل و
Yusuf Ali (English) Say: "Truly, my prayer and my service of sacrifice, my life and my death, are (all) for Allah, the Cherisher of the Worlds:

Yusuf Ali (English) As to those who hold fast by the Book and establish regular prayer,- never shall We suffer the reward of the righteous to perish.

Yusuf Ali (English) But when the forbidden months(1250) are past, then fight and slay(1251) the Pagans wherever ye find them, an seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war); but if they repent,(1252) and establish regular prayers and practise regular charity, then open the way for them: for Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.*
38 At-Tawbah Verse 11 (9:11:0) الصَّلٰوةَ الصلوة ssalâte the prayer ص ل و
Yusuf Ali (English) But (even so), if they repent,(1259) establish regular prayers, and practise regular charity,- they are your brethren in Faith: (thus) do We explain the Signs in detail, for those who understand.*
39 At-Tawbah Verse 18 (9:18:0) الصَّلٰوةَ الصلوة ssalâte the prayer ص ل و
Yusuf Ali (English) The mosques of Allah shall be visited and maintained by such as believe in Allah and the Last Day, establish regular prayers, and practise regular charity, and fear none (at all) except Allah.(1267) It is they who are expected to be on true guidance.(1268)*
40 At-Tawbah Verse 54 (9:54:0) الصَّلٰوةَ الصلوة ssalâte (to) the prayer ص ل و
Yusuf Ali (English) The only reasons why their contributions are not accepted are: that they reject Allah and His Messenger. that they come to prayer without earnestness; and that they offer contributions unwillingly.
41 At-Tawbah Verse 71 (9:71:0) الصَّلٰوةَ الصلوة ssalâte the prayer ص ل و
Yusuf Ali (English) The Believers, men and women, are protectors one of another: they enjoin what is just, and forbid what is evil: they observe regular prayers, practise regular charity, and obey Allah and His Messenger. On them will Allah pour His mercy: for Allah is Exalted in power, Wise.
42 At-Tawbah Verse 84 (9:84:0) تُصَلِّ تصل tusalli you pray ص ل و
Yusuf Ali (English) Nor do thou ever pray for any of them that dies, nor stand at his grave;(1337) for they rejected Allah and His Messenger, and died in a state of perverse rebellion.*
43 At-Tawbah Verse 99 (9:99:0) وَصَلَوَاتِ وصلوات ve salevâti and blessings ص ل و
Yusuf Ali (English) But some of the desert Arabs believe in Allah and the Last Day, and look on their payments as pious gifts bringing them nearer to Allah and obtaining the prayers of the Messenger. Aye, indeed they bring them nearer (to Him): soon will Allah admit them to His Mercy(1347): for Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.*
44 At-Tawbah Verse 103 (9:103:0) وَصَلِّ وصل ve salli and bless ص ل و

46 Yunus Verse 87 (10:87:0) الصَّلٰوةَۜ الصلوة ssalâ(te) the prayer ص ل و
Yusuf Ali (English) We inspired Moses and his brother with this Message: "Provide(1468) dwellings for your people in Egypt, make your dwellings into places of worship, and establish regular prayers: and give glad tidings to those who believe!"*
47 Hud Verse 87 (11:87:4) اَصَلٰوتُكَ اصلوتك esalâtuke Does your prayer ص ل و
Yusuf Ali (English) They said: "O Shu´aib! Does thy (religion of) prayer command thee that we leave off the worship which our fathers practised, or that we leave off doing what we like with our property?(1586) truly, thou art the one that forbeareth with faults and is rightminded!"( 1587)*

Yusuf Ali (English) And establish regular prayers at the two ends of the day(1616) and at the approaches of the night:(1617) For those things, that are good remove those that are evil:(1618) Be that the word of remembrance to those who remember (their Lord):*
49 Ar-Ra'd Verse 22 (13:22:7) الصَّلٰوةَ الصلوة ssalâte the prayer ص ل و
Yusuf Ali (English) Those who patiently persevere, seeking the countenance of their Lord; Establish regular prayers; spend, out of (the gifts) We have bestowed for their sustenance, secretly and openly; and turn off Evil with good: for such there is the final attainment of the (Eternal) Home,-(1836)*
50 Ibrahim Verse 31 (14:31:6) الصَّلٰوةَ الصلوة ssalâte the prayers ص ل و
Yusuf Ali (English) Speak to my servants who have believed,(1905) that they may establish regular prayers, and spend (in charity) out of the Sustenance(1906) we have given them, secretly and openly, before the coming of a Day in which there will be neither mutual bargaining(1907) nor befriending.*
