| Yusuf Ali (English) | Those to whom We have sent the Book study it as it should be studied: They are the ones that believe therein: Those who reject faith therein,- the loss is their own. | |||||
| 3 | Al-Baqarah Verse 160 (2:160:6) | فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | فاولئك | fe-ulâike | Then those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | Except those who repent and make amends and openly declare (the Truth): To them I turn; for I am Oft-returning, Most Merciful. | |||||
| 4 | Al-Baqarah Verse 217 (2:217:46) | فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | فاولئك | fe-ulâike | for those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | They ask thee concerning fighting in the Prohibited Month(237). Say: "Fighting therein is a grave (offence); but graver is it in the sight of Allah to prevent access to the path of Allah, to deny Him, to prevent access to the Sacred Mosque, and drive out its members(238)." Tumult and oppression(239) are worse than slaughter. Nor will they cease fighting you until they turn you back from your faith if they can. And if any of you Turn back from their faith and die in unbelief, their works will bear no fruit in this life and in the Hereafter; they will be companions of the Fire and will abide therein.* | |||||
| 5 | Al-Baqarah Verse 229 (2:229:44) | فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | فاولئك | fe-ulâike | then those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | A divorce is only(256) permissible twice: after that, the parties should either hold Together on equitable terms, or separate with kindness.(257) It is not lawful for you, (Men), to take back any of your gifts (from your wives), except when both parties fear that they would be unable to keep the limits ordained by Allah.(258) If ye (judges) do indeed fear that they would be unable to keep the limits ordained by Allah, there is no blame on either of them if she give something for her freedom. These are the limits ordained by Allah. so do not transgress them if any do transgress the limits ordained by Allah, such persons wrong (Themselves as well as others).(259)* | |||||
| 6 | Al-Baqarah Verse 275 (2:275:40) | فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | فاولئك | fe-ulâike | then those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | Those who devour usury(324) will not stand except as stand one whom the Evil one by his touch Hath driven to madness(325). That is because they say: "Trade is like usury(326)," but Allah hath permitted trade and forbidden usury. Those who after receiving direction from their Lord, desist, shall be pardoned for the past; their case is for Allah (to judge); but those who repeat (The offence) are companions of the Fire: They will abide therein (for ever).* | |||||

| Yusuf Ali (English) | If any turn back after this, they are perverted transgressors. | |||||
| 8 | Ali 'Imran Verse 94 (3:94:9) | فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | فاولئك | fe-ulâike | then those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | If any, after this, invent a lie and attribute it to Allah, they are indeed unjust wrong-doers. | |||||
| 9 | An-Nisa Verse 17 (4:17:13) | فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | فاولئك | fe-ulâike | Then those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | Allah accept the repentance of those who do evil in ignorance and repent soon afterwards; to them will Allah turn in mercy: For Allah is full of knowledge and wisdom. | |||||
| 10 | An-Nisa Verse 69 (4:69:5) | فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | فاولئك | fe-ulâike | then those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | All who obey Allah and the messenger are in the company of those on whom is the Grace of Allah,- of the prophets (who teach), the sincere (lovers of Truth), the witnesses (who testify), and the Righteous (who do good): Ah! what a beautiful Fellowship!(586)* | |||||
| 11 | An-Nisa Verse 97 (4:97:23) | فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | فاولئك | fe-ulâike | Then those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | When angels take the souls of those who die in sin against their souls,(615) they say: "In what (plight) Were ye?" They reply: "Weak and oppressed Were we in the earth." They say: "Was not the earth of Allah spacious enough for you to move yourselves away (From evil)?" Such men will find their abode in Hell,- What an evil refuge! -* | |||||
| 12 | An-Nisa Verse 99 (4:99:1) | فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | فاولئك | fe-ulâike | Then those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | For these, there is hope that Allah will forgive: For Allah doth blot out (sins) and forgive again and again. | |||||
| 13 | An-Nisa Verse 124 (4:124:11) | فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | فاولئك | fe-ulâike | then those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | If any do deeds of righteousness,- be they male or female - and have faith, they will enter Heaven, and not the least injustice(633) will be done to them.* | |||||
| 14 | An-Nisa Verse 146 (4:146:10) | فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | فاولئك | fe-ulâike | then those (will be) | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | Except for those who repent, mend (their lives) hold fast to Allah, and purify their religion as in Allah.s sight: if so they will be (numbered)(652) with the believers. And soon will Allah grant to the believers a reward of immense value.* | |||||
| 15 | Al-Ma'idah Verse 44 (5:44:39) | فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | فاولئك | fe-ulâike | then those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | It was We who revealed the law (to Moses): therein was guidance and light(750). By its standard have been judged the Jews, by the prophets who bowed (as in Islam) to Allah.s will, by the rabbis(751) and the doctors of law: for to them was entrusted the protection of Allah.s book, and they were witnesses thereto(752): therefore fear not men, but fear me, and sell not my signs for a miserable price(753). If any do fail to judge by (the light of) what Allah hath revealed, they are (no better than) Unbelievers.* | |||||
| 16 | Al-Ma'idah Verse 45 (5:45:29) | فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | فاولئك | fe-ulâike | then those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | We ordained therein for them(754): "Life for life, eye for eye, nose or nose, ear for ear, tooth for tooth, and wounds equal for equal." But if any one remits the retaliation by way of charity, it is an act of atonement for himself.(755) And if any fail to judge by (the light of) what Allah hath revealed, they are (No better than) wrongdoers(756).* | |||||
| 17 | Al-Ma'idah Verse 47 (5:47:14) | فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | فاولئك | fe-ulâike | then those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | Let the people of the Gospel judge by what Allah hath revealed therein. If any do fail to judge by (the light of) what Allah hath revealed, they are (no better than) those who rebel.(758)* | |||||
| 18 | Al-A'raf Verse 8 (7:8:7) | فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | فاولئك | fe-ulâike | then those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | The balance that day will be true (to nicety): those whose scale (of good) will be heavy, will prosper: | |||||
| 19 | Al-A'raf Verse 9 (7:9:4) | فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | فاولئك | fe-ulâike | so those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | Those whose scale will be light, will be their souls in perdition, for that they wrongfully treated Our signs. | |||||
| 20 | Al-A'raf Verse 178 (7:178:0) | فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | فاولئك | fe-ulâike | then those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | Whom Allah doth guide,- he is on the right path: whom He rejects from His guidance,- such are the persons who perish.(1152)* | |||||
| 21 | Al-Anfal Verse 75 (8:75:0) | فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | فاولئك | fe-ulâike | then those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | And those who accept Faith subsequently,(1244) and adopt exile, and fight for the Faith in your company,- they are of you. But kindred by blood have prior rights against each other in the Book of Allah.(1245) Verily Allah is well-acquainted with all things.* | |||||
| 22 | At-Tawbah Verse 23 (9:23:0) | فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | فاولئك | fe-ulâike | then those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | O ye who believe! take not for protectors your fathers and your brothers if they love infidelity above Faith: if any of you do so, they do wrong. | |||||
| 23 | Al-Isra Verse 19 (17:19:9) | فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | فاولئك | fe-ulâike | then those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | Those who do wish for the (things of) the Hereafter,(2198) and strive therefor with all due striving, and have Faith,-(2199) they are the ones whose striving is acceptable (to Allah..* | |||||
| 24 | Al-Isra Verse 71 (17:71:10) | فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | فاولئك | fe-ulâike | then those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | One day We shall call together all human beings with their (respective) Imams:(2266) those who are given their record in their right hand will read it (with pleasure), and they will not be dealt with unjustly in the least.(2267)* | |||||
| 25 | Maryam Verse 60 (19:60:7) | فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | فاولئك | fe-ulâike | Then those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | Except those who repent and believe, and work righteousness: for these will enter the Garden and will not be wronged in the least,- | |||||
| 26 | Ta-Ha Verse 75 (20:75:7) | فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | فاولئك | fe-ulâike | then those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | But such as come to Him as Believers who have worked righteous deeds,- for them are ranks exalted,- | |||||
| 27 | Al-Hajj Verse 57 (22:57:5) | فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | فاولئك | fe-ulâike | then those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | And for those who reject Faith and deny our Signs, there will be a humiliating Punishment. | |||||
| 28 | Al-Mu'minun Verse 7 (23:7:5) | فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | فاولئك | fe-ulâike | then those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | But those whose desires exceed those limits are transgressors;- | |||||
| 29 | Al-Mu'minun Verse 102 (23:102:4) | فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | فاولئك | fe-ulâike | then those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | Then those whose balance (of good deeds) is heavy,- they will attain salvation:(2942)* | |||||
| 30 | Al-Mu'minun Verse 103 (23:103:4) | فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | فاولئك | fe-ulâike | then those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | But those whose balance is light, will be those who have lost their souls,(2943) in Hell will they abide.* | |||||
| 31 | An-Nur Verse 13 (24:13:10) | فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | فاولئك | fe-ulâike | then those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | Why did they not bring four witnesses to prove it?(2966) When they have not brought the witnesses, such men, in the sight of Allah, (stand forth) themselves as liars!* | |||||
| 32 | An-Nur Verse 52 (24:52:8) | فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | فاولئك | fe-ulâike | then those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | It is such as obey Allah and His Messenger, and fear Allah and do right, that will win (in the end), | |||||
| 33 | An-Nur Verse 55 (24:55:36) | فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | فاولئك | fe-ulâike | then those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | Allah has promised, to those among you who believe and work righteous deeds, that He(3031) will, of a surety, grant them in the land, inheritance (of power), as He granted it to those before them; that He will establish in authority their religion - the one which He has chosen for them; and that He will change (their state), after the fear(3032) in which they (lived), to one of security and peace: ´They will worship Me (alone) and not associate aught with Me. ´If any do reject Faith after this, they are rebellious and wicked.* | |||||
| 34 | Al-Furqan Verse 70 (25:70:8) | فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | فاولئك | fe-ulâike | then (for) those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | Unless he repents, believes, and works righteous deeds, for Allah will change the evil of such persons into good, and Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful,(3130)* | |||||
| 35 | Ar-Rum Verse 16 (30:16:8) | فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | فاولئك | fe-ulâike | then those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | And those who have rejected Faith and falsely denied our Signs and the meeting of the Hereafter,- such shall be brought forth to Punishment. | |||||
| 36 | Ar-Rum Verse 39 (30:39:20) | فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | فاولئك | fe-ulâike | then those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | That which ye lay out for increase through the property of (other) people, will have(3552) no increase with Allah. but that which ye lay out for charity, seeking the Countenance of Allah,(3553) (will increase): it is these who will get a recompense multiplied.* | |||||
| 37 | Saba Verse 37 (34:37:14) | فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | فاولئك | fe-ulâike | then those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | It is not your wealth nor your sons, that will bring you nearer to Us(3844) in degree: but only those who believe and work righteousness - these are the ones for whom there is a multiplied Reward(3845) for their deeds, while secure they (reside) in the dwellings on high!(3846)* | |||||
| 38 | Ghafir Verse 40 (40:40:17) | فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | فاولئك | fe-ulâike | then those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | "He that works evil will not be requited but by the like thereof: and he that works a righteous deed - whether man or woman - and is a Believer- such will enter the Garden (of Bliss): Therein will they have abundance(4413) without measure.* | |||||
| 39 | Ash-Shura Verse 41 (42:41:5) | فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | فاولئك | fe-ulâike | then those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | But indeed if any do help and defend themselves after a wrong (done) to them, against such(4584) there is no cause of blame.* | |||||
| 40 | Al-Hujurat Verse 11 (49:11:38) | فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | فاولئك | fe-ulâike | then those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | O ye who believe! Let not some men among you laugh at others:(4929) It may be that the (latter) are better than the (former): Nor let some women laugh at others: It may be that the (latter are better than the (former): Nor defame nor be(4930) sarcastic to each other, nor call each other by (offensive) nicknames: Ill-seeming is a name connoting wickedness, (to be used of one) after he has believed: And those who do not desist are (indeed) doing wrong.* | |||||
| 41 | Al-Hashr Verse 9 (59:9:29) | فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | فاولئك | fe-ulâike | then those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | But those who before them, had homes(5383) (in Medina) and had adopted the Faith,- show their affection to such as came to them for refuge, and entertain no desire in their hearts for things given to the (latter), but give them preference over themselves, even though poverty was their (own lot). And those saved from the covetousness of their own souls,- they are the ones that achieve prosperity.* | |||||
| 42 | Al-Mumtahanah Verse 9 (60:9:19) | فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | فاولئك | fe-ulâike | then those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | Allah only forbids you, with regard to those who fight you for (your) Faith, and drive you out of your homes, and support (others) in driving you out, from turning to them (for friendship and protection). It is such as turn to them (in these circumstances), that do wrong. | |||||
| 43 | Al-Munafiqun Verse 9 (63:9:16) | فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | فاولئك | fe-ulâike | then those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | O ye who believe! Let not your riches or your children divert you from the remembrance of Allah. If any act thus, the loss is their own.(5476)* | |||||
| 44 | At-Taghabun Verse 16 (64:16:14) | فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | فاولئك | fe-ulâike | then those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | So fear Allah(5497) as much as ye can; listen and obey and spend in charity for the benefit of your own souls.(5498) And those saved from the covetousness of their own souls,- they are the ones that achieve prosperity.(5499)* | |||||
| 45 | Al-Ma'arij Verse 31 (70:31:5) | فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | فاولئك | fe-ulâike | then those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | But those who trespass beyond this are transgressors;- | |||||
| 46 | Al-Jinn Verse 14 (72:14:8) | فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | فاولئك | fe-ulâike | then those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | ´Amongst us are some that submit their wills (to Allah., and some that swerve from justice. Now those who submit their wills - they have(5738) sought out (the path) of right conduct:* | |||||
