Yusuf Ali (English) There will then be (left) no subterfuge for them(851) but to say: "By Allah our Lord, we were not those who joined gods with Allah."*

And they shall hear the cry: "Behold! the garden before you! Ye have been made(1022) its inheritors, for your deeds (of righteousness)."*
7 Al-A'raf Verse 53 (7:53:29) كُنَّا كنا kunnâ we used to ك و ن
Yusuf Ali (English) Do they just wait for the final fulfilment(1030) of the event? On the day the event is finally fulfilled, those who disregarded it before will say: "The messengers of our Lord did indeed bring true (tidings). Have we no intercessors now to intercede on our behalf? Or could we be sent back? then should we behave differently from our behaviour in the past." In fact they will have lost their souls, and the things they invented will leave them in the lurch.*
8 Al-A'raf Verse 88 (7:88:21) كُنَّا كنا kunnâ we are ك و ن
Yusuf Ali (English) The leaders, the arrogant party among his people, said:(1058) "O Shu´aib! we shall certainly drive thee out of our city - (thee) and those who believe with thee; or else ye (thou and they) shall have to return to our ways and religion." He said: "What! even though we do detest (them)?*
9 Al-A'raf Verse 113 (7:113:9) كُنَّا كنا kunnâ we are ك و ن
Yusuf Ali (English) So there came the sorcerers to Pharaoh: They said, "of course we shall have a (suitable) reward if we win!"(1079)*

Yusuf Ali (English) They said: "O our father! We went racing with one another,(1649) and left Joseph with our things; and the wolf devoured him.... But thou wilt never believe us even though we tell the truth."(1650)*

Yusuf Ali (English) (The brothers) said: "By Allah. well ye know that we came not to make mischief in the land, and we are no thieves!"(1738)*

Yusuf Ali (English) They will all be marshalled before Allah together: then will the weak say to those(1895) who were arrogant, "For us, we but followed you; can ye then avail us to all against the wrath of Allah." They will reply, "If we had received the Guidance(1896) of Allah, we should have given it to you: to us it makes no difference (now) whether we rage, or bear (these torments) with patience: for ourselves there is no way of escape."*
23 An-Nahl Verse 28 (16:28:9) كُنَّا كنا kunnâ we were ك و ن
Yusuf Ali (English) "(Namely) those whose lives the angels take in a state of wrong-doing to their own souls."(2051) Then would they offer submission (with the pretence), "We did(2052) no evil (knowingly)." (The angels will reply), "Nay, but verily Allah knoweth all that ye did;*

Yusuf Ali (English) Who receiveth guidance, receiveth it for his own benefit: who goeth astray doth so to his own loss:(2190) No bearer of burdens can bear the burden(2191) of another: nor would We visit with Our Wrath until We had sent a messenger (to give warning).*

Yusuf Ali (English) (It was Our power that made) the violent (unruly) wind flow (tamely) for Solomon,(2736) to his order, to the land(2737) which We had blessed: for We do know all things.*

Yusuf Ali (English) And of the evil ones, were some who dived for him, and did other work(2738) besides; and it was We Who guarded them.*

39 Al-Anbiya Verse 104 (21:104:15) كُنَّا كنا kunnâ We are ك و ن
Yusuf Ali (English) The Day that We roll up the heavens like a scroll rolled up for books (completed),- even as We produced the first creation, so shall We produce(2758) a new one: a promise We have undertaken: truly shall We fulfil it.*

Yusuf Ali (English) And We have made, above you, seven tracts;(2876) and We are never unmindful of (our) Creation.(2877)*
