Yusuf Ali (English) What! Do those who seek after evil ways think that We shall hold them equal with(4759) those who believe and do righteous deeds,- that equal will be their life and their death? Ill is the judgment that they make.*
8 Al-Fil Verse 5 (105:5:1) فَجَعَلَهُمْ فجعلهم fe-ce’alehum Then He made them ج ع ل
Yusuf Ali (English) Then did He make them like an empty field(6274) of stalks and straw, (of which the corn) has been eaten up.(6275)*
9 Ash-Shu'ara Verse 44 (26:44:2) حِبَالَهُمْ حبالهم hibâlehum their ropes ح ب ل
Yusuf Ali (English) So they threw their ropes and their rods, and said: "By the might of Pharaoh, it is we who will certainly win!"(3163)*

Yusuf Ali (English) Nor (is there blame) on those who came to thee to be provided with mounts(1344), and when thou saidst, "I can find no mounts for you," they turned back, their eyes streaming with tears of grief that they had no resources wherewith to provide the expenses.*

Yusuf Ali (English) It was not fitting for the people of Medina and the Bedouin Arabs of the neighbourhood, to refuse to follow Allah.s Messenger, nor to prefer their own lives to his: because nothing could they suffer or do, but was reckoned to their credit as a deed of righteousness,- whether they suffered thirst, or fatigue, or hunger, in the cause of Allah, or trod paths to raise the ire of the Unbelievers, or received any injury(1371) whatever from an enemy: for Allah suffereth not the reward to be lost of those who do good;-*

Yusuf Ali (English) Or do they not recognise their Messenger, that they deny him?
13 Al-Mulk Verse 8 (67:8:9) سَاَلَهُمْ سالهم se-elehum (will) ask them س أ ل
Yusuf Ali (English) Almost bursting with fury: Every time a Group is cast therein, its Keepers(5565) will ask, "Did no Warner come to you?"*
14 At-Tawbah Verse 5 (9:5:0) سَب۪يلَهُمْۜ سبيلهم sebîlehum their way س ب ل
Yusuf Ali (English) But when the forbidden months(1250) are past, then fight and slay(1251) the Pagans wherever ye find them, an seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war); but if they repent,(1252) and establish regular prayers and practise regular charity, then open the way for them: for Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.*
15 Yunus Verse 11 (10:11:0) اسْتِعْجَالَهُمْ استعجالهم -sti’câlehum (as) He hastens for them ع ج ل
Yusuf Ali (English) If Allah were to hasten for men the ill (they have earned) as they would fain hasten on the good,- then would their respite be settled at once.(1398) But We leave those who rest not their hope on their meeting with Us, in their trespasses, wandering in distraction to and fro.*
16 Maryam Verse 49 (19:49:2) اعْتَزَلَهُمْ اعتزلهم -’tezelehum he left them ع ز ل
Yusuf Ali (English) When he had turned away from them and from those whom they worshipped besides Allah, We bestowed on him Isaac and Jacob, and each one of them We made a prophet.(2501)*
17 Al-Baqarah Verse 167 (2:167:16) اَعْمَالَهُمْ اعمالهم a’mâlehum their deeds ع م ل
Yusuf Ali (English) And those who followed would say: "If only We had one more chance, We would clear ourselves of them, as they have cleared themselves of us." Thus will Allah show them (The fruits of) their deeds as (nothing but) regrets. Nor will there be a way for them out of the Fire(168).*
18 Al-An'am Verse 108 (6:108:17) عَمَلَهُمْ عملهم ‘amelehum their deed ع م ل
Yusuf Ali (English) Revile not ye those whom they call upon besides Allah, lest they out of spite revile Allah in their ignorance. Thus have We made alluring to each people(936) its own doings. In the end will they return to their Lord, and We shall then tell them the truth of all that they did.*

Yusuf Ali (English) Remember Satan made their (sinful) acts seem alluring to them, and said: "No one among men can overcome you this day, while I am near to you": But when the two forces came in sight of each other, he turned on his heels, and said: "Lo! I am clear of you; lo! I see what ye see not; Lo! I fear Allah. for Allah is strict in punishment."(1217)*

Yusuf Ali (English) Those who desire the life of the present and its glitter,- to them we shall pay (the price of) their deeds therein,- without diminution.(1511)*

Yusuf Ali (English) And, of a surety, to all will your Lord pay back (in full the recompense) of their deeds: for He knoweth well all that they do.(1615)*

Yusuf Ali (English) (Remember also) the ´Ad and the Thamud (peoples):(3459) clearly will appear to you from (the traces) of their buildings (their fate): the Evil One made their deeds alluring(3460) to them, and kept them back from the Path, though they were gifted with intelligence and skill.*
26 Al-Ahzab Verse 19 (33:19:30) اَعْمَالَهُمْۜ اعمالهم a’mâlehum their deeds ع م ل
Yusuf Ali (English) Covetous over you.(3689) Then when fear comes, thou wilt see them looking to thee, their eyes revolving, like (those of) one over whom hovers death: but when the fear is past, they will smite you with sharp tongues, covetous(3690) of goods. Such men have no faith, and so Allah has made their deeds(3691) of none effect: and that is easy for Allah.(3692)*

Yusuf Ali (English) And to all(4795) are (assigned) degrees according to the deeds which they (have done), and in order that ((Allah)) may recompense their deeds, and no injustice be done to them.*

Yusuf Ali (English) Those who reject Allah and hinder (men) from the Path of Allah,- their deeds will Allah render astray(4817) (from their mark).*
29 Muhammad Verse 4 (47:4:38) اَعْمَالَهُمْ اعمالهم a’mâlehum their deeds ع م ل
Yusuf Ali (English) Therefore, when ye meet(4820) the Unbelievers (in fight), smite at their necks; At length, when ye have thoroughly subdued them, bind a bond(4821) firmly (on them): thereafter (is the time for) either generosity or ransom:(4822) Until the war lays down its burdens. Thus (are ye commanded): but if it had been Allah's Will, He could certainly have exacted retribution from them (Himself); but (He lets you fight) in order to test you,(4823) some with others. But those who are slain(4824) in the Way of Allah,- He will never let their deeds be lost.*
30 Muhammad Verse 8 (47:8:6) اَعْمَالَهُمْ اعمالهم a’mâlehum their deeds ع م ل
Yusuf Ali (English) But those who reject (Allah),- for them is destruction, and (Allah) will render their deeds astray(4827) (from their mark).*
31 Muhammad Verse 9 (47:9:8) اَعْمَالَهُمْ اعمالهم a’mâlehum their deeds ع م ل
Yusuf Ali (English) That is because they hate the Revelation of Allah. so He has made their deeds fruitless.(4828)*
32 Muhammad Verse 28 (47:28:10) اَعْمَالَهُمْ۟ اعمالهم a’mâlehum their deeds ع م ل
Yusuf Ali (English) This because they followed that which called forth the Wrath of Allah, and they hated Allah.s good pleasure; so He made their deeds of no effect.
33 Muhammad Verse 32 (47:32:21) اَعْمَالَهُمْ اعمالهم a’mâlehum their deeds ع م ل
Yusuf Ali (English) Those who reject Allah, hinder (men) from the Path of Allah, and resist the Messenger, after Guidance has been clearly shown to them,(4857) will not injure Allah in the least, but He will make their deeds of no effect.*
34 Az-Zalzalah Verse 6 (99:6:6) اَعْمَالَهُمْۜ اعمالهم a’mâlehum their deeds ع م ل
Yusuf Ali (English) On that Day will men proceed in companies sorted out,(6239) to be shown the deeds that they (had done).*
35 Al-Baqarah Verse 62 (2:62:15) فَلَهُمْ فلهم fe-lehum then for them فَلَهُمْ
Yusuf Ali (English) Those who believe (in the Qur´an), and those who follow the Jewish (scriptures), and the Christians and the Sabians(76),- any who believe in Allah and the Last Day, and work righteousness, shall have their reward with their Lord; on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve(77).*
36 Al-Baqarah Verse 274 (2:274:8) فَلَهُمْ فلهم fe-lehum then for them فَلَهُمْ
Yusuf Ali (English) Those who (in charity)(323) spend of their goods by night and by day, in secret and in public, have their reward with their Lord: on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.*
37 As-Sajdah Verse 19 (32:19:6) فَلَهُمْ فلهم fe-lehum then for them فَلَهُمْ
Yusuf Ali (English) For those who believe and do righteous deeds are Gardens as hospitable(3652) homes, for their (good) deeds.*
38 Al-Mujadila Verse 16 (58:16:8) فَلَهُمْ فلهم fe-lehum then for them فَلَهُمْ
Yusuf Ali (English) They have made their oaths a screen (for their misdeeds): thus they obstruct (men)(5357) from the Path of Allah. therefore shall they have a humiliating Penalty.*
39 Al-Buruj Verse 10 (85:10:9) فَلَهُمْ فلهم fe-lehum then for them فَلَهُمْ
Yusuf Ali (English) Those who persecute (or draw into temptation) the Believers, men and women, and do not turn in repentance, will have the Penalty of Hell: They will have the Penalty of the Burning Fire.(6058)*

Yusuf Ali (English) Except such as believe and do righteous deeds: For they shall have a reward unfailing.

Yusuf Ali (English) But how many (countless) generations before them have we destroyed, who were even better in equipment and in glitter to the eye?
42 Maryam Verse 98 (19:98:3) قَبْلَهُمْ قبلهم kablehum before them ق ب ل
Yusuf Ali (English) But how many (countless) generations before them(2533) have We destroyed? Canst thou find a single one of them (now) or hear (so much as) a whisper of them?*
43 Ta-Ha Verse 128 (20:128:6) قَبْلَهُمْ قبلهم kablehum before them ق ب ل
Yusuf Ali (English) Is it not a warning to such men (to call to mind) how many generations before them We destroyed, in whose haunts they (now) move? Verily, in this are Signs for men endued with understanding.(2652)*

Yusuf Ali (English) (As to those) before them, not one of the populations which We destroyed believed: will these believe?(2669)*

Yusuf Ali (English) If they treat thy (mission) as false, so did the peoples before them (with their prophets),-(2820) the People of Noah, and ´Ad and Thamud;*

Yusuf Ali (English) But (there were people) before them, who denied (the Signs),- the People of Noah, and the Confederates(4361) (of Evil) after them; and every People plotted against their prophet, to seize him, and disputed by means of vanities,(4362) therewith to condemn the Truth; but it was I that seized them! and how (terrible)(4363) was My Requital!*

Yusuf Ali (English) We did, before them, try the people of Pharaoh:(4700) there came to them a messenger most honourable,(4701)*
