Yusuf Ali (English) But give glad tidings to those who believe and work righteousness, that their portion is Gardens, beneath which rivers flow. Every time they are fed with fruits therefrom, they say: "Why, this is what we were fed with before," for they are given things in similitude; and they have therein companions pure (and holy)(44); and they abide therein (forever).*

Yusuf Ali (English) Those who believe (in the Qur´an), and those who follow the Jewish (scriptures), and the Christians and the Sabians(76),- any who believe in Allah and the Last Day, and work righteousness, shall have their reward with their Lord; on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve(77).*

Say: "Why then have ye slain the prophets of Allah in times gone by, if ye did indeed believe(96)?"*

Yusuf Ali (English) And those who followed would say: "If only We had one more chance, We would clear ourselves of them, as they have cleared themselves of us." Thus will Allah show them (The fruits of) their deeds as (nothing but) regrets. Nor will there be a way for them out of the Fire(168).*
18 Al-Baqarah Verse 174 (2:174:27) وَلَهُمْ ولهم ve lehum and for them لَهُم
Yusuf Ali (English) Those who conceal Allah.s revelations in the Book, and purchase for them a miserable profit,- they swallow into themselves(175) naught but Fire; Allah will not address them on the Day of Resurrection. Nor purify them: Grievous will be their penalty.*

Yusuf Ali (English) To these will be allotted(225) what they have earned; and Allah is quick in account.*

And if Allah had wished, He could have put you into difficulties: He is indeed Exalted in Power, Wise(245)."*
21 Al-Baqarah Verse 247 (2:247:2) لَهُمْ لهم lehum (to,for) them لَهُم
Yusuf Ali (English) Their Prophet said to them: "(Allah) hath appointed Talut(280) as king over you." They said: "How can he exercise authority over us when we are better fitted than he to exercise authority, and he is not even gifted, with wealth in abundance?" He said: "(Allah) hath Chosen him above you, and hath gifted him abundantly with knowledge and bodily prowess: Allah Granteth His authority to whom He pleaseth. Allah careth for all, and He knoweth all things."*
22 Al-Baqarah Verse 248 (2:248:2) لَهُمْ لهم lehum (to,for) them لَهُم
Yusuf Ali (English) And (further) their Prophet said to them: "A Sign of his authority is that there shall come to you the Ark of the covenant(281), with (an assurance) therein of security(282) from your Lord, and the relics left by the family of Moses and the family of Aaron, carried by angels(283). In this is a symbol for you if ye indeed have faith."*

Yusuf Ali (English) The parable of those who spend their substance in the way of Allah is that of a grain of corn: it groweth seven ears, and each ear Hath a hundred grains. Allah giveth manifold increase to whom He pleaseth: And Allah careth for all and He knoweth all things.

Yusuf Ali (English) All that they said was: "Our Lord! Forgive us our sins and anything We may have done that transgressed our duty: Establish our feet firmly, and help us against those that resist Faith."

Yusuf Ali (English) And let not those who covetously withhold of the gifts which Allah Hath given them of His Grace(483), think that it is good for them: Nay, it will be the worse for them: soon shall the things which they covetously withheld be tied to their necks Like a twisted collar,(484) on the Day of Judgment. To Allah belongs the heritage(485) of the heavens and the earth; and Allah is well-acquainted with all that ye do.*

Yusuf Ali (English) Think not that those who exult in what they have brought about, and love to be praised for what they have not done,-(496) think escape the penalty. For them is a penalty Grievous indeed.*
