By it He causes many to stray, and many He leads into the right path; but He causes not to stray, except those who forsake (the path),-* | |||||

| Yusuf Ali (English) | And remember We said: "Enter this town(72), and eat of the plenty therein as ye wish; but enter the gate with humility, in posture and in words, and We shall forgive you your faults and increase (the portion of) those who do good."* | |||||

| Yusuf Ali (English) | Then woe to those who write the Book with their own hands, and then say:"This is from Allah," to traffic with it for miserable price!- Woe to them for what their hands do write, and for the gain they make thereby. | |||||

| Yusuf Ali (English) | After this it is ye, the same people, who slay among yourselves, and banish a party of you from their homes; assist (Their enemies) against them, in guilt and rancour; and if they come to you as captives, ye ransom(89) them, though it was not lawful for you to banish them. Then is it only a part of the Book that ye believe in, and do ye reject the rest? but what is the reward for those among you who behave like this but disgrace in this life?- and on the Day of Judgment they shall be consigned to the most grievous penalty. For Allah is not unmindful of what ye do.* | |||||

| Yusuf Ali (English) | And remember Abraham said: "My Lord, make this a City of Peace(127), and feed its people with fruits(128),-such of them as believe in Allah and the Last Day." He said: "(Yea), and such as reject Faith,- for a while will I grant them their pleasure, but will soon drive them to the torment of Fire,- an evil destination (indeed)!"* | |||||
| 9 | Al-Baqarah Verse 259 (2:259:13) | هٰذِهِ | هذه | hâżihi | this (town) | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | Or (take) the similitude of one who passed by a hamlet, all in ruins(304) to its roofs. He said: "Oh! how shall Allah bring it (ever) to life, after (this) its death?" but Allah caused him to die for a hundred years, then raised him up (again). He said: "How long didst thou tarry (thus)?" He said: (Perhaps) a day or part of a day." He said: "Nay, thou hast tarried thus a hundred years; but look at thy food and thy drink; they show no signs of age; and look at thy donkey: And that We may make of thee a sign unto the people, Look further at the bones, how We bring them together and clothe them with flesh(305)." When this was shown clearly to him, he said: "I know that Allah hath power over all things."* | |||||

| Yusuf Ali (English) | Right graciously did her Lord accept her: He made her grow in purity and beauty: To the care of Zakariya was she assigned. Every time that he entered (Her) chamber to see her, He found her supplied with sustenance. He said: "O Mary! Whence (comes) this to you?" She said: "From Allah. for Allah Provides sustenance to whom He pleases without measure(379)."* | |||||

| Yusuf Ali (English) | Without doubt, among men, the nearest of kin to Abraham, are those who follow him, as are also this Messenger and those who believe: And Allah is the Protector of those who have faith. | |||||

| Yusuf Ali (English) | Hast thou not turned Thy vision to those who were given a portion(572) of the Book? they believe in sorcery and Evil,(573) and say to the Unbelievers that they are better guided in the (right) way Than the believers!* | |||||

| Yusuf Ali (English) | And why should ye not fight in the cause of Allah and of those who, being weak,(592) are ill-treated (and oppressed)?- Men, women, and children, whose cry is: "Our Lord! Rescue us from this town, whose people are oppressors; and raise for us from thee one who will protect; and raise for us from thee one who will help!"(593)* | |||||

| 29 | Al-Ma'idah Verse 41 (5:41:36) | هٰذَا | هذا | hâżâ | this | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | O Messenger. let not those grieve thee, who race each other into unbelief:(744) (whether it be) among those who say "We believe" with their lips but whose hearts have no faith; or it be among the Jews,- men who will listen to any lie,- will listen even to others who have never so much as come(745) to thee. They change the words from their (right) times(746) and places: they say, "If ye are given this, take it, but if not, beware!" If any one´s trial is intended by Allah, thou hast no authority in the least for him against Allah. For such - it is not Allah.s will to purify their hearts. For them there is disgrace in this world, and in the Hereafter a heavy punishment.* | |||||
| 30 | Al-Ma'idah Verse 53 (5:53:4) | اَهٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ | اهؤلاء | e-hâulâ-i | Are these | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | And those who believe will say: "Are these the men who swore their strongest oaths by Allah, that they were with you?(766)" All that they do will be in vain, and they will fall into (nothing but) ruin.* | |||||
| 31 | Al-Ma'idah Verse 110 (5:110:61) | هٰذَٓا | هذا | hâżâ | (is) this | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | Then will Allah say: "O Jesus the son of Mary! Recount My favour(815) to thee and to thy mother. Behold! I strengthened thee(816) with the holy spirit, so that thou didst speak to the people in childhood and in maturity.(817) Behold! I taught thee the Book and Wisdom,(818) the Law and the Gospel and behold! thou didst make(819) out of clay, the figure of a bird, by My leave, and thou didst breathe into it and it becometh a bird by My leave, and thou didst heal those born blind, and the lepers, by My leave. And behold! thou didst bring forth the dead by My leave.(820) And behold! I did restrain the Children of Israel from (violence to) thee(821) when thou didst show them the clear Signs, and the unbelievers among them said: ´This is nothing but evident magic.(822)´* | |||||
| 32 | Al-Ma'idah Verse 119 (5:119:3) | هٰذَا | هذا | hâżâ | This | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | Allah will say: "This is a day on which the truthful will profit from their truth: theirs are gardens, with rivers flowing beneath,- their eternal Home: Allah well-pleased with them, and they with Allah. That is the great salvation,(833) (the fulfilment of all desires).* | |||||
| 33 | Al-An'am Verse 7 (6:7:13) | هٰذَٓا | هذا | hâżâ | (is) this | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | If We had sent unto thee a written (message) on parchment,(839-A) so that they could touch it with their hands, the Unbelievers would have been sure to say: "This is nothing but obvious magic!"(840)* | |||||
| 34 | Al-An'am Verse 19 (6:19:13) | هٰذَا | هذا | hâżâ | this | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | Say: "What thing is most weighty in evidence?" Say: "(Allah) is witness between me and you; This Qur´an hath been revealed to me by inspiration, that I may warn you and all whom it reaches. Can ye possibly bear witness that besides Allah there is another Allah." Say: "Nay! I cannot bear witness!" Say: "But in truth He is the one Allah, and I truly am innocent of (your blasphemy of) joining others with Him." | |||||
| 35 | Al-An'am Verse 25 (6:25:29) | هٰذَٓا | هذا | hâżâ | (is) this | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | Of them there are some who (pretend to) listen to thee; but We have thrown veils on their hearts, So they understand it not,(852-A) and deafness in their ears; if they saw every one of the signs, not they will believe in them; in so much that when they come to thee, they (but) dispute with thee; the Unbelievers say: "These are nothing but tales of the ancients."* | |||||
| 36 | Al-An'am Verse 30 (6:30:9) | هٰذَا | هذا | hâżâ | this | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | If thou couldst but see when they are confronted with their Lord! He will say: "Is not this the truth?" They will say: "Yea, by our Lord!" He will say: "Taste ye then the penalty, because ye rejected Faith." | |||||
| 37 | Al-An'am Verse 53 (6:53:6) | اَهٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ | اهؤلاء | e-hâulâ-i | Are these | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | Thus did We try some of them by comparison(872) with others, that they should say: "Is it these then that Allah hath favoured from amongst us?" Doth not Allah know best those who are grateful?* | |||||
| 38 | Al-An'am Verse 63 (6:63:14) | هٰذِه۪ | هذه | hâżihi | this | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | Say:(885) "Who is it that delivereth you from the dark recesses(886) of land and sea, when ye call upon Him in humility and silent terror:(887) ´If He only delivers us from these (dangers), (we vow) we shall truly show our gratitude´.?"* | |||||

| Yusuf Ali (English) | When the night covered him over, He saw a star: He said: "This is my Lord." But when it set, He said: "I love not those that set."(898)* | |||||

| Yusuf Ali (English) | These were the men to whom We gave the Book, and authority, and prophethood: if these (their descendants) reject them,(908) Behold! We shall entrust their charge to a new people who reject them not.* | |||||
| 44 | Al-An'am Verse 92 (6:92:1) | وَهٰذَا | وهذا | ve hâżâ | And this | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | And this is a Book which We have sent down, bringing blessings,(912) and confirming (the revelations) which came before it: that thou mayest warn the mother(913) of cities and all around her. Those who believe in the Hereafter believe in this (Book), and they are constant in guarding their prayers.(914)* | |||||
| 45 | Al-An'am Verse 126 (6:126:1) | وَهٰذَا | وهذا | ve hâżâ | And this | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | This is the way of thy Lord, leading straight: We have detailed the signs for those who receive admonition. | |||||
| 46 | Al-An'am Verse 130 (6:130:15) | هٰذَاۜ | هذا | hâżâ | this | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | "O ye assembly of Jinns and men! came there not unto you messengers from amongst you,(953) setting forth unto you My signs, and warning you of the meeting of this Day of yours?" They will say: "We bear witness against ourselves." It was the life of this world that deceived them. So against themselves will they bear witness that they rejected Faith.* | |||||
| 47 | Al-An'am Verse 136 (6:136:10) | هٰذَا | هذا | hâżâ | This | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | Out of what Allah hath produced in abundance in tilth and in cattle, they assigned Him a share: they say, according to their fancies:(958) "This is for Allah, and this" - for our "partners"! but the share of their" partners "reacheth not Allah, whilst the share of Allah reacheth their "partners" ! evil (and unjust) is their assignment!* | |||||
| 48 | Al-An'am Verse 136 (6:136:13) | وَهٰذَا | وهذا | ve hâżâ | And this | هَٰذَا |

| Yusuf Ali (English) | And they say that such and such cattle and crops(960) are taboo, and none should eat of them except those whom - so they say - We wish; further, there are cattle forbidden to yoke(961) or burden, and cattle on which, (at slaughter), the name of Allah is not(962) pronounced; - inventions against Allah.s name: soon will He requite them for their inventions.* | |||||
| 50 | Al-An'am Verse 139 (6:139:5) | هٰذِهِ | هذه | hâżihi | (of) these | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | They say: "What is in the wombs of such and such cattle is specially reserved (for food) for our men, and forbidden to our women; but if it is still-born, then all have shares therein.(963) For their (false) attribution (of superstitions to Allah., He will soon punish them: for He is full of wisdom and knowledge.* | |||||
