| Yusuf Ali (English) | After this it is ye, the same people, who slay among yourselves, and banish a party of you from their homes; assist (Their enemies) against them, in guilt and rancour; and if they come to you as captives, ye ransom(89) them, though it was not lawful for you to banish them. Then is it only a part of the Book that ye believe in, and do ye reject the rest? but what is the reward for those among you who behave like this but disgrace in this life?- and on the Day of Judgment they shall be consigned to the most grievous penalty. For Allah is not unmindful of what ye do.* | |||||

| Yusuf Ali (English) | Ah! Ye are those who fell to disputing (Even) in matters of which ye had some knowledge(403)! but why dispute ye in matters of which ye have no knowledge? It is Allah Who knows, and ye who know not!* | |||||
| 4 | An-Nisa Verse 41 (4:41:11) | هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ | هؤلاء | hâulâ-i | these (people) | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | How then if We brought from each people a witness, and We brought thee as a witness against these people!(560)* | |||||
| 5 | An-Nisa Verse 51 (4:51:15) | هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ | هؤلاء | hâulâ-i | These | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | Hast thou not turned Thy vision to those who were given a portion(572) of the Book? they believe in sorcery and Evil,(573) and say to the Unbelievers that they are better guided in the (right) way Than the believers!* | |||||
| 6 | An-Nisa Verse 78 (4:78:32) | هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ | هؤلاء | hâulâ-i | (with) these | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | "Wherever ye are, death will find you out, even if ye are in towers built up strong and high!" If some good befalls them, they say, "This is from Allah.; but if evil, they say, "This is from thee" (O Prophet).(597) Say: "All things are from Allah." But what hath come to these people, that they fail to understand a single fact?* | |||||
| 7 | An-Nisa Verse 109 (4:109:3) | هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ | هؤلاء | hâulâ-i | those who | هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | Ah! These are the sort of men on whose behalf ye may contend in this world; but who will contend with Allah on their behalf on the Day of Judgment, or who will carry their affairs through? | |||||
| 8 | An-Nisa Verse 143 (4:143:6) | هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ | هؤلاء | hâulâ-i | these | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | (They are) distracted in mind even in the midst of it,- being (sincerely) for neither one group nor for another whom Allah leaves straying,- never wilt thou find for him the Way.(651)* | |||||
| 9 | An-Nisa Verse 143 (4:143:9) | هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِۜ | هؤلاء | hâulâ/(i) | those | هَٰذَا |

| Yusuf Ali (English) | And those who believe will say: "Are these the men who swore their strongest oaths by Allah, that they were with you?(766)" All that they do will be in vain, and they will fall into (nothing but) ruin.* | |||||
| 11 | Al-An'am Verse 53 (6:53:6) | اَهٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ | اهؤلاء | e-hâulâ-i | Are these | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | Thus did We try some of them by comparison(872) with others, that they should say: "Is it these then that Allah hath favoured from amongst us?" Doth not Allah know best those who are grateful?* | |||||
| 12 | Al-An'am Verse 89 (6:89:10) | هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ | هؤلاء | hâulâ-i | these | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | These were the men to whom We gave the Book, and authority, and prophethood: if these (their descendants) reject them,(908) Behold! We shall entrust their charge to a new people who reject them not.* | |||||
| 13 | Al-A'raf Verse 38 (7:38:28) | هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ | هؤلاء | hâulâ-i | these | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | He will say: "Enter ye in the company of the peoples who passed away before you - men and jinns, - into the Fire." Every time a new people enters, it curses its sister-people (that went before), until they follow each other, all into the Fire. Saith the last about the first: "Our Lord! it is these that misled us: so give them a double penalty in the Fire." He will say: "Doubled(1019) for all" : but this ye do not understand.* | |||||
| 14 | Al-A'raf Verse 49 (7:49:1) | اَهٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ | اهؤلاء | e-hâulâ-i | Are these | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | "Behold! are these not the men whom you swore that Allah with His Mercy would never bless? Enter ye the Garden: no fear shall be on you, nor shall ye grieve." | |||||
| 15 | Al-A'raf Verse 139 (7:139:2) | هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ | هؤلاء | hâulâ-i | these | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | "As to these folk,- the cult they are in is (but) a fragment of a ruin,(1098) and vain is the (worship) which they practise."* | |||||
| 16 | Al-Anfal Verse 49 (8:49:0) | هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ | هؤلاء | hâulâ-i | these (people) | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | Lo! the hypocrites say, and those in whose hearts is a disease:(1218) "These people,- their religion has misled them." But if any trust in Allah, behold! Allah is Exalted in might, Wise.* | |||||
| 17 | Yunus Verse 18 (10:18:0) | هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ | هؤلاء | hâulâ-i | These | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | They serve, besides Allah, things that hurt them not nor profit them, and they say: "These are our intercessors with Allah." Say: "Do ye indeed inform Allah of something He knows not, in the heavens(1405) or on earth?- Glory to Him! and far is He above the partners they ascribe (to Him)!"* | |||||
| 18 | Hud Verse 18 (11:18:14) | هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ | هؤلاء | hâulâi | These (are) | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | Who doth more wrong than those who invent a life against Allah. They will be turned back to the presence of their Lord, and the witnesses will say, "These are the ones who lied against their Lord! Behold! the Curse of Allah is on those who do wrong!- | |||||
| 19 | Hud Verse 78 (11:78:13) | هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ | هؤلاء | hâulâ-i | These | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | And his people came rushing towards him, and they had been long in the habit of practising abominations. He said: "O my people! Here are my daughters: they are purer for you (if ye marry)!(1575) Now fear Allah, and cover me not with shame about my guests! Is there not among you a single right-minded man?"* | |||||
| 20 | Hud Verse 109 (11:109:7) | هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِۜ | هؤلاء | hâulâ(i) | these (polytheists) | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | Be not then in doubt as to what these men worship. They worship nothing(1611) but what their fathers worshipped before (them): but verily We shall pay them back (in full) their portion(1612) without (the least) abatement.* | |||||
| 21 | Al-Hijr Verse 66 (15:66:7) | هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ | هؤلاء | hâulâ-i | (of) these | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | And We made known this decree to him, that the last remnants of those (sinners) should be cut off by the morning.(1991)* | |||||
| 22 | Al-Hijr Verse 68 (15:68:3) | هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ | هؤلاء | hâulâ-i | these | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | Lut said: "These are my guests: disgrace me not: | |||||
| 23 | Al-Hijr Verse 71 (15:71:2) | هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ | هؤلاء | hâulâ-i | These | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | He said: "There are my daughters (to marry), if ye must act (so)."(1994)* | |||||
| 24 | An-Nahl Verse 86 (16:86:8) | هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ | هؤلاء | hâulâ-i | these | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | When those who gave partners to Allah will see their "partners", they will say: "Our Lord! these are our ´partners,´ those whom we used to invoke(2124) besides Thee." But they will throw back their word at them (and say): "Indeed ye are liars!"* | |||||
| 25 | An-Nahl Verse 89 (16:89:14) | هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِۜ | هؤلاء | hâulâ/(i) | these | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | One day We shall raise from all Peoples a witness against them, from amongst themselves:(2126) and We shall bring thee as a witness against these (thy people): and We have sent down to thee the Book explaining all things, a Guide, a Mercy, and Glad Tidings to Muslims.* | |||||
| 26 | Al-Isra Verse 20 (17:20:3) | هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ | هؤلاء | hâulâ-i | (to) these | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | Of the bounties of thy Lord We bestow freely on all- These as well as those: The bounties of thy Lord are not closed (to anyone).(2200)* | |||||
| 27 | Al-Isra Verse 20 (17:20:4) | وَهٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ | وهؤلاء | ve hâulâ-i | and (to) these | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | Of the bounties of thy Lord We bestow freely on all- These as well as those: The bounties of thy Lord are not closed (to anyone).(2200)* | |||||
| 28 | Al-Isra Verse 102 (17:102:6) | هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ | هؤلاء | hâulâ-i | these | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | Moses said, "Thou knowest well that these things have been sent down by none but the Lord of the heavens and the earth as eye-opening(2311) evidence: and I consider thee indeed, O Pharaoh, to be one doomed to destruction!"* | |||||
| 29 | Al-Kahf Verse 15 (18:15:1) | هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ | هؤلاء | hâulâ-i | These | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | "These our people have taken(2345) for worship gods other than Him: why do they not bring forward an authority clear (and convincing) for what they do? Who doth more wrong than such as invent a falsehood against Allah.* | |||||
| 30 | Al-Anbiya Verse 44 (21:44:3) | هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ | هؤلاء | hâulâ-i | (to) these | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | Nay, We gave the good things of this life to these men and their fathers until the period(2704) grew long for them; See they not that We(2705) gradually reduce the land (in their control) from its outlying borders? Is it then they who will win?* | |||||
| 31 | Al-Anbiya Verse 65 (21:65:8) | هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ | هؤلاء | hâulâ-i | these | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | Then were they confounded(2722) with shame: (they said), "Thou knowest full well that these (idols) do not speak!"* | |||||
| 32 | Al-Anbiya Verse 99 (21:99:3) | هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ | هؤلاء | hâulâ-i | these | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | If these had been gods, they would not have got there!(2755) but each one will abide therein.* | |||||
| 33 | Al-Furqan Verse 17 (25:17:12) | هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ | هؤلاء | hâulâ-i | these | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | The day He will gather them together as well as those whom they worship besides Allah, He will ask:(3072) "Was it ye who let these My servants astray, or did they stray from the Path themselves?"* | |||||
| 34 | Ash-Shu'ara Verse 54 (26:54:2) | هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ | هؤلاء | hâulâi | these | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | (Saying): "These (Israelites) are but a small band, | |||||
| 35 | Al-Qasas Verse 63 (28:63:7) | هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ | هؤلاء | hâulâi | These | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | Those against whom the charge(3393) will be proved, will say: "Our Lord! These are the ones whom we led astray: we led them astray, as we were astray ourselves: we free ourselves (from them) in Thy presence: it was not us they worshipped."(3394)* | |||||
| 36 | Al-'Ankabut Verse 47 (29:47:11) | هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ | هؤلاء | hâulâ-i | these | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | And thus(3475) (it is) that We have sent down the Book to thee. So the People of the Book believe therein,(3476) as also do some of these(3477) (pagan Arabs): and none but Unbelievers reject our signs.* | |||||
| 37 | Saba Verse 40 (34:40:7) | اَهٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ | اهؤلاء | ehâulâ-i | Were these you | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | One Day He will gather them all together, and say to the angels,(3850) "Was it you that these men used to worship?"* | |||||
| 38 | Sad Verse 15 (38:15:3) | هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ | هؤلاء | hâulâi | these | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | These (today) only wait for a single mighty Blast,(4164) which (when it comes) will brook no delay.(4165)* | |||||
| 39 | Az-Zumar Verse 51 (39:51:8) | هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ | هؤلاء | hâulâ-i | these | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | Nay, the evil results of their Deeds overtook them.(4321) And the wrong-doers of this (generation)- the evil results of their Deeds will soon overtake them (too),(4322) and they will never be able to frustrate (Our Plan)!* | |||||
| 40 | Az-Zukhruf Verse 29 (43:29:3) | هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ | هؤلاء | hâulâi | (to) these | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | Yea, I have given(4632) the good things of this life to these (men) and their fathers, until the Truth has come to them, and a messenger making things clear.* | |||||
| 41 | Az-Zukhruf Verse 88 (43:88:5) | هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ | هؤلاء | hâulâi | these | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | ((Allah) has knowledge)(4685) of the (Prophet´s) cry, "O my Lord! Truly these are people who will not believe!"(4686)* | |||||
| 42 | Ad-Dukhan Verse 22 (44:22:4) | هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ | هؤلاء | hâulâi | these | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | (But they were aggressive:)(4707) then he cried to his Lord: "These are indeed a people given to sin."* | |||||
| 43 | Ad-Dukhan Verse 34 (44:34:2) | هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ | هؤلاء | hâulâi | these | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | As to these (Quraish),(4714) they say forsooth:* | |||||
| 44 | Muhammad Verse 38 (47:38:3) | هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ | هؤلاء | hâulâi | these | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | Behold, ye are those(4864) invited to spend (of your substance) in the Way of Allah. But among you are some that are niggardly. But any who are niggardly are so at the expense of their own souls. But Allah is free of all wants, and it is ye that are needy. If ye turn back(4865) (from the Path), He will substitute in your stead another people; then they would not be like you!* | |||||
| 45 | Al-Insan Verse 27 (76:27:2) | هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ | هؤلاء | hâulâ-i | these | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | As to these, they love the fleeting life, and put away behind them(5858) a Day (that will be) hard.* | |||||
| 46 | Al-Mutaffifin Verse 32 (83:32:5) | هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ | هؤلاء | hâulâ-i | these | هَٰذَا |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | And whenever they saw them, they would say, "Behold! These are the people truly astray!"(6027)* | |||||
