Yusuf Ali (English) The mothers shall give suck(266) to their offspring for two whole years, if the father desires to complete the term. But he shall bear the cost of their food and clothing(266-A) on equitable terms. No soul shall have a burden laid on it greater than it can bear. No mother shall be Treated unfairly on account of her child. Nor father on account of his child, an heir shall be chargeable in the same way, If they both decide on weaning, by mutual consent, and after due consultation, there is no blame on them. If ye decide on a foster-mother for your offspring, there is no blame on you, provided ye pay (the mother) what ye offered, on equitable terms. But fear Allah and know that Allah sees well what ye do.*

Yusuf Ali (English) There is no blame on you if ye divorce women before consummation or the fixation of their dower; but bestow on them (A suitable gift), the wealthy according to his means, and the poor according to his means - A gift of a reasonable amount is due from those who wish to do the right thing.

Yusuf Ali (English) Remember two of your parties(443) Meditated cowardice; but Allah was their protector, and in Allah should the faithful (Ever) put their trust.*

10 An-Nisa Verse 103 (4:103:8) وَعَلٰى وعلى ve ’alâ and (lying) on عَلَىٰ
Yusuf Ali (English) When ye pass(619) (Congregational) prayers, celebrate Allah.s praises, standing, sitting down, or lying down on your sides; but when ye are free from danger, set up Regular Prayers: For such prayers are enjoined on believers at stated times.*
11 Al-Ma'idah Verse 11 (5:11:21) وَعَلَى وعلى ve’ala And upon عَلَىٰ
Yusuf Ali (English) O ye who believe! Call in remembrance the favour of Allah unto you when certain men formed the design to stretch out their hands against you, but (Allah) held back their hands from you:(708) so fear Allah. And on Allah let believers put (all) their trust.*
12 Al-Ma'idah Verse 23 (5:23:16) وَعَلَى وعلى ve ’ala And upon عَلَىٰ
Yusuf Ali (English) (But) among (their) Allah.fearing men were two on whom Allah had bestowed His grace:(726) They said: "Assault them at the (proper) Gate: when once ye are in, victory will be yours; But on Allah put your trust if ye have faith."*
13 Al-Ma'idah Verse 110 (5:110:11) وَعَلٰى وعلى ve ’alâ and upon عَلَىٰ
Yusuf Ali (English) Then will Allah say: "O Jesus the son of Mary! Recount My favour(815) to thee and to thy mother. Behold! I strengthened thee(816) with the holy spirit, so that thou didst speak to the people in childhood and in maturity.(817) Behold! I taught thee the Book and Wisdom,(818) the Law and the Gospel and behold! thou didst make(819) out of clay, the figure of a bird, by My leave, and thou didst breathe into it and it becometh a bird by My leave, and thou didst heal those born blind, and the lepers, by My leave. And behold! thou didst bring forth the dead by My leave.(820) And behold! I did restrain the Children of Israel from (violence to) thee(821) when thou didst show them the clear Signs, and the unbelievers among them said: ´This is nothing but evident magic.(822)´*
14 Al-An'am Verse 146 (6:146:1) وَعَلَى وعلى ve ’alâ And to عَلَىٰ
Yusuf Ali (English) For those who followed the Jewish Law, We forbade every (animal) with undivided hoof,(970) and We forbade them that fat of the ox(971) and the sheep, except what adheres to their backs or their entrails, or is mixed up with a bone: this in recompense for their wilful disobedience: for We are true (in Our ordinances).*
15 Al-A'raf Verse 46 (7:46:3) وَعَلَى وعلى ve ’alâ and on عَلَىٰ
Yusuf Ali (English) Between them shall be a veil, and on the heights(1025) will be men who would know every one by his marks: they will call out to the Companions of the Garden, "peace on you": they will not have entered, but they will have an assurance (thereof).*
16 Al-Anfal Verse 2 (8:2:0) وَعَلٰى وعلى ve ’alâ and upon عَلَىٰ
Yusuf Ali (English) For, Believers are those who, when Allah is mentioned, feel a tremor in their hearts, and when they hear His signs rehearsed, find their faith strengthened, and put (all) their trust in their Lord;
17 At-Tawbah Verse 26 (9:26:0) وَعَلَى وعلى ve ’alâ and on عَلَىٰ
Yusuf Ali (English) But Allah did pour His calm(1276) on the Messenger and on the Believers, and sent down forces which ye saw not: He punished the Unbelievers; thus doth He reward those without Faith.*
18 At-Tawbah Verse 51 (9:51:0) وَعَلَى وعلى ve ’ala And on عَلَىٰ
Yusuf Ali (English) Say: "Nothing will happen to us except what Allah has decreed for us: He is our protector": and on Allah let the Believers put their trust.
19 At-Tawbah Verse 118 (9:118:0) وَعَلَى وعلى ve ’alâ And on عَلَىٰ
Yusuf Ali (English) (He turned in mercy also) to the three who were left behind; (they felt guilty)(1370) to such a degree that the earth seemed constrained to them, for all its spaciousness, and their (very) souls seemed straitened to them,- and they perceived that there is no fleeing from Allah (and no refuge) but to Himself. Then He turned to them, that they might repent: for Allah is Oft-Returning, Most Merciful.*
20 Hud Verse 48 (11:48:9) وَعَلٰٓى وعلى ve ’alâ and on عَلَىٰ
Yusuf Ali (English) The word came: "O Noah! Come down (from the Ark) with peace from Us, and blessing on thee and on some of the peoples (who will spring) from those with thee: but (there will be other) peoples to whom We shall grant their pleasures(1542) (for a time), but in the end will a grievous penalty reach them from Us."(1543)*
21 Yusuf Verse 6 (12:6:11) وَعَلٰٓى وعلى ve ’alâ and on عَلَىٰ
Yusuf Ali (English) "Thus will thy Lord choose thee and teach thee the interpretation of stories(1636) (and events) and perfect His favour to thee and to the posterity of Jacob - even as He perfected it to thy fathers Abraham and Isaac aforetime! for Allah is full of knowledge and wisdom."(1637)*
22 Yusuf Verse 38 (12:38:20) وَعَلَى وعلى ve ’alâ and upon عَلَىٰ
Yusuf Ali (English) "And I follow the ways(1691) of my fathers,- Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; and never could we attribute any partners whatever to Allah. that (comes) of the grace of Allah to us and to mankind: yet most men are not grateful.*
23 Ibrahim Verse 11 (14:11:26) وَعَلَى وعلى ve ’ala And upon عَلَىٰ
Yusuf Ali (English) Their messengers said to them: "True, we are human like yourselves, but Allah doth grant His grace to such of his servants as He pleases. It is not for us to bring you an authority except as Allah permits. And on Allah let all men of faith put their trust.
24 Ibrahim Verse 12 (14:12:14) وَعَلَى وعلى ve ’ala And upon عَلَىٰ
Yusuf Ali (English) "No reason have we why we should not put our trust on Allah. Indeed He Has guided us to the Ways we (follow). We shall certainly bear with patience all the hurt you may cause us. For those who put their trust should put their trust on Allah."
25 An-Nahl Verse 9 (16:9:1) وَعَلَى وعلى ve ’ala And upon عَلَىٰ
Yusuf Ali (English) And unto Allah leads straight(2029) the Way, but there are ways that turn aside: if Allah had willed, He could have guided all of you.*
26 An-Nahl Verse 42 (16:42:3) وَعَلٰى وعلى ve’alâ and on عَلَىٰ
Yusuf Ali (English) (They are) those who persevere in patience, and put their trust on their Lord.
27 An-Nahl Verse 99 (16:99:8) وَعَلٰى وعلى ve ’alâ and upon عَلَىٰ
Yusuf Ali (English) No authority has he over those who believe and put their trust in their Lord.

Yusuf Ali (English) So he smiled, amused at her speech; and he said: "O my Lord! so order me that I may be grateful for Thy favours, which thou hast bestowed on me and(3259) on my parents, and that I may work the righteousness that will please Thee:(3260) And admit me, by Thy Grace, to the ranks of Thy righteous Servants."(3261)*
32 Al-'Ankabut Verse 59 (29:59:3) وَعَلٰى وعلى ve ’alâ and upon عَلَىٰ
Yusuf Ali (English) Those who persevere in patience, and put their trust, in their Lord and Cherisher.
33 As-Saffat Verse 113 (37:113:3) وَعَلٰٓى وعلى ve ’alâ and [on] عَلَىٰ
Yusuf Ali (English) We blessed him and Isaac: but of their progeny are (some) that do right, and (some) that obviously(4106) do wrong, to their own souls.*
34 Ghafir Verse 80 (40:80:10) وَعَلَى وعلى ve ’alâ and upon عَلَىٰ
Yusuf Ali (English) And there are (other) advantages in them for you (besides); that ye may through them attain to any need (there may be) in your hearts; and on them and on ships ye are carried.
35 Ash-Shura Verse 36 (42:36:15) وَعَلٰى وعلى ve ’alâ and upon عَلَىٰ
Yusuf Ali (English) Whatever ye are given (here) is (but) a convenience(4575) of this life: but that which is with Allah is better and more lasting: (it is) for those who believe(4576) and put their trust in their Lord:*
36 Al-Ahqaf Verse 15 (46:15:30) وَعَلٰى وعلى ve ’alâ and upon عَلَىٰ
Yusuf Ali (English) We have enjoined on man(4789) kindness to his parents: In pain did his mother bear him, and in pain did she give him birth. The carrying of the (child) to his weaning is (a period of) thirty months.(4790) At length, when he reaches the age of full strength(4791) and attains forty years, he says, "O my Lord! Grant me that I may be grateful for Thy favour which Thou has bestowed upon me, and upon both my parents, and that I may work righteousness such as Thou mayest approve; and be gracious to me in my issue. Truly have I turned to Thee and truly do I bow (to Thee) in Islam."*
37 Al-Fath Verse 26 (48:26:15) وَعَلَى وعلى ve ’alâ and upon عَلَىٰ
Yusuf Ali (English) While the Unbelievers got up in their hearts heat and cant - the heat(4907) and cant of ignorance,- Allah sent down His Tranquillity(4908) to his Messenger and to the Believers, and made them stick close to the command of self-restraint; and well were they entitled to it(4909) and worthy of it. And Allah has full knowledge of all things.*
38 Al-Mujadila Verse 10 (58:10:14) وَعَلَى وعلى ve ’ala And upon عَلَىٰ
Yusuf Ali (English) Secret counsels are only (inspired) by the Evil One, in order that he may cause grief to the Believers; but he cannot harm them in the least, except as(5346) Allah permits; and on Allah let the Believers put their trust.*
39 At-Taghabun Verse 13 (64:13:6) وَعَلَى وعلى ve ’ala And upon عَلَىٰ
Yusuf Ali (English) Allah. There is no god but He: and on Allah, therefore, let the Believers put their trust.
