Yusuf Ali (English) If thou ask them, who it is that created the heavens and the earth.(3613) They will certainly say, "(Allah)". Say: "Praise be to Allah."(3614) But most of them understand not.*

Yusuf Ali (English) It is Allah Who sustains the heavens and the earth,(3933) lest they cease (to function): and if they should fail, there is none - not one - can sustain them thereafter: Verily He is Most Forbearing,(3934) Oft- Forgiving.*

Yusuf Ali (English) They swore their strongest oaths by Allah that if a warner came to them, they would follow his guidance better(3935) than any (other) of the Peoples: But when a warner came to them, it has only increased their flight (from righteousness),-*
17 Az-Zumar Verse 38 (39:38:1) وَلَئِنْ ولئن ve le-in And if إِنْ
Yusuf Ali (English) If indeed thou ask them who it is that created(4299) the heavens and the earth, they would be sure to say, "(Allah)". Say: "See ye then? the things that ye invoke besides Allah,- can they, if Allah wills some Penalty for me, remove His Penalty?- Or if He wills some Grace for me, can they keep back(4300) his Grace?" Say: "Sufficient is Allah for me! In Him trust those who put their trust."(4301)*
18 Az-Zumar Verse 65 (39:65:8) لَئِنْ لئن le-in if إِنْ
Yusuf Ali (English) But it has already been revealed to thee,-(4338) as it was to those before thee,- "If thou wert to join (gods with Allah., truly fruitless(4339) will be thy work (in life), and thou wilt surely be in the ranks of those who lose (all spiritual good)".*
19 Az-Zukhruf Verse 9 (43:9:1) وَلَئِنْ ولئن ve le-in And if إِنْ
Yusuf Ali (English) If thou wert to question them, ´Who created the heavens and the earth?´(4610) They would be sure to reply, ´they were created by (Him), the Exalted in Power, Full of Knowledge´;-(4611)*

Yusuf Ali (English) If they are expelled, never will they go out with them; and if they are attacked (in fight), they will never help them; and if they do help them, they will turn their backs; so they will receive no help.(5388)*

Yusuf Ali (English) They say, "If we(5475) return to Medina, surely the more honourable (element) will expel therefrom the meaner." But honour belongs to Allah and His Messenger, and to the Believers; but the Hypocrites know not.*
23 Al-An'am Verse 23 (6:23:8) وَاللّٰهِ والله va(A)llâhi By Allah اللَّهُ
Yusuf Ali (English) There will then be (left) no subterfuge for them(851) but to say: "By Allah our Lord, we were not those who joined gods with Allah."*
24 An-Nahl Verse 56 (16:56:8) تَاللّٰهِ تالله ta(A)llâhi By Allah اللَّهُ
Yusuf Ali (English) And they (even) assign, to things they do not know,(2080) a portion out of that which We have bestowed for their sustenance!(2081) By Allah, ye shall certainly be called to account for your false inventions.*
25 An-Nahl Verse 63 (16:63:1) تَاللّٰهِ تالله ta(A)llâhi By Allah اللَّهُ
Yusuf Ali (English) By Allah, We (also) sent (Our messengers) to Peoples before thee; but Satan made, (to the wicked), their own acts seem alluring: He is also their patron today,(2090) but they shall have a most grievous penalty.*
26 At-Tin Verse 3 (95:3:2) الْبَلَدِ البلد l-beledi [the] city ب ل د
Yusuf Ali (English) And this City(6197) of security,-(6198)*
27 Al-Baqarah Verse 155 (2:155:1) وَلَنَبْلُوَنَّكُمْ ولنبلونكم ve lenebluvennekum And surely We will test you ب ل و
Yusuf Ali (English) Be sure we shall test you with something of fear and hunger, some loss in goods or lives or the fruits (of your toil), but give glad tidings(159) to those who patiently persevere,*
28 Muhammad Verse 31 (47:31:1) وَلَنَبْلُوَنَّكُمْ ولنبلونكم ve le-nebluvennekum And surely We will test you ب ل و
Yusuf Ali (English) And We shall try you(4855) until We test those among you who strive their utmost and persevere in patience; and We shall try your reported (mettle).(4856)*

Yusuf Ali (English) By the Fig(6194) and the Olive,(6195)*
30 Adh-Dhariyat Verse 3 (51:3:1) فَالْجَارِيَاتِ فالجاريات fel-câriyâti And those sailing ج ر ي
Yusuf Ali (English) And those that(4989) flow with ease and gentleness;*
31 Adh-Dhariyat Verse 2 (51:2:1) فَالْحَامِلَاتِ فالحاملات fel-hâmilâti And those carrying ح م ل
Yusuf Ali (English) And those that(4988) lift and bear away heavy weights;*
32 Adh-Dhariyat Verse 1 (51:1:1) وَالذَّارِيَاتِ والذاريات ve-żżâriyâti By those scattering ذ ر و
Yusuf Ali (English) By the (Winds)(4986) that scatter broadcast;(4987)*
33 Maryam Verse 68 (19:68:1) فَوَرَبِّكَ فوربك fe-verabbike So by your Lord ر ب ب
Yusuf Ali (English) So, by thy Lord, without doubt, We shall gather them together, and (also) the Evil Ones (with them);(2516) then shall We bring them forth on their knees round about Hell;(2517)*
34 Adh-Dhariyat Verse 23 (51:23:1) فَوَرَبِّ فورب fe-verabbi Then by (the) Lord ر ب ب
Yusuf Ali (English) Then, by the Lord(5004) of heaven and earth, this is the very Truth, as much as the fact that ye can speak intelligently to each other.*
35 Maryam Verse 46 (19:46:11) لَاَرْجُمَنَّكَ لارجمنك le-ercumenneke surely, I will stone you ر ج م
Yusuf Ali (English) (The father) replied: "Dost thou hate my gods, O Abraham? If thou forbear not, I will indeed stone thee: Now get away from me for a good long while!"(2498)*
36 Al-Mursalat Verse 1 (77:1:1) وَالْمُرْسَلَاتِ والمرسلات vel-murselâti By the ones sent forth ر س ل
Yusuf Ali (English) By the (Winds) Sent Forth(5863) one after another (to man´s profit);(5864)*
37 Al-Ma'idah Verse 64 (5:64:17) وَلَيَز۪يدَنَّ وليزيدن ve leyezîdenne And surely increase ز ي د
Yusuf Ali (English) The Jews say: "(Allah)´s hand(772) is tied up." Be their hands tied up and be they accursed for the (blasphemy) they utter. Nay, both His hands are widely outstretched: He giveth and spendeth (of His bounty) as He pleaseth. But the revelation that cometh to thee from Allah increaseth in most of them their obstinate rebellion(773) and blasphemy. Amongst them we have placed enmity(774) and hatred till the Day of Judgment. Every time they kindle the fire of war, Allah doth extinguish it; but they (ever) strive to do mischief(775) on earth. And Allah loveth not those who do mischief.*
38 Al-Hijr Verse 39 (15:39:5) لَاُزَيِّنَنَّ لازينن le-uzeyyinenne surely, I will make (evil) fair-seeming ز ي ن
Yusuf Ali (English) (Iblis) said: "O my Lord! because Thou hast put me(1974) in the wrong, I will make (wrong) fairseeming to them on the earth, and I will put them(1975) all in the wrong,-*
39 Adh-Dhariyat Verse 7 (51:7:1) وَالسَّمَٓاءِ والسماء ve ssemâ-i By the heaven س م و
Yusuf Ali (English) By the Sky with (its) numerous Paths,(4993)*
40 Al-Buruj Verse 1 (85:1:1) وَالسَّمَٓاءِ والسماء ve ssemâ-i By the sky س م و
