Yusuf Ali (English) But the transgressors changed the word from that which had been given them; so We sent on the transgressors a plague from heaven, for that they infringed (Our command) repeatedly.

Yusuf Ali (English) Miserable is the price for which they have sold their souls, in that they deny (the revelation) which Allah has sent down, in insolent envy that Allah of His Grace should send it to any of His servants He pleases(95): Thus have they drawn on themselves Wrath upon Wrath. And humiliating is the punishment of those who reject Faith.*

Yusuf Ali (English) Whoever is an enemy to Allah and His angels and messengers, to Gabriel and Michael,- Lo! Allah is an enemy to those who reject Faith.

Yusuf Ali (English) Yet there are men who take (for worship) others besides Allah, as equal (with Allah.: They love them as they should love Allah. But those of Faith are overflowing in their love for Allah. If only the unrighteous could see, behold, they would see the penalty: that to Allah belongs all power, and Allah will strongly enforce the Punishment(167).*
13 Al-Baqarah Verse 178 (2:178:4) اٰمَنُوا امنوا âmenû believe[d] أ م ن
Yusuf Ali (English) O ye who believe! the law of equality(182) is prescribed to you in cases of murder(183): the free for the free, the slave for the slave, the woman for the woman. But if any remission is made by the brother(184) of the slain, then grant any reasonable demand(185), and compensate him with handsome gratitude, this is a concession and a Mercy from your Lord. After this whoever exceeds the limits shall be in grave penalty.*
14 Al-Baqarah Verse 195 (2:195:14) الْمُحْسِن۪ينَ المحسنين l-muhsinîn(e) the good-doers ح س ن
Yusuf Ali (English) And spend of your substance in the cause of Allah, and make not your own hands contribute to (your) destruction(211); but do good; for Allah loveth those who do good.*
15 Al-Baqarah Verse 212 (2:212:3) كَفَرُوا كفروا keferu disbelieve[d] ك ف ر
Yusuf Ali (English) The life of this world is alluring to those who reject faith, and they scoff at those who believe. But the righteous will be above them on the Day of Resurrection; for Allah bestows His abundance without measure on whom He will(234).*

For Allah loves those who turn to Him constantly and He loves those who keep themselves pure and clean.*

Yusuf Ali (English) For those who take an oath for abstention from their wives, a waiting for four months is ordained; if then they return, Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.
21 Al-Baqarah Verse 236 (2:236:25) الْمُحْسِن۪ينَ المحسنين l-muhsinîn(e) the good-doers ح س ن
Yusuf Ali (English) There is no blame on you if ye divorce women before consummation or the fixation of their dower; but bestow on them (A suitable gift), the wealthy according to his means, and the poor according to his means - A gift of a reasonable amount is due from those who wish to do the right thing.

Yusuf Ali (English) When Talut set forth with the armies, he said(284): "(Allah) will test you at the stream: if any drinks of its water, He goes not with my army: Only those who taste not of it go with me: A mere sip out of the hand is excused." but they all drank of it, except a few. When they crossed the river,- He and the faithful ones with him,they said: "This day(285) We cannot cope with Goliath and his forces." but those who were convinced that they must meet Allah, said: "How oft, by Allah.s will, Hath a small force vanquished a big one? Allah is with those who steadfastly persevere."*
23 Al-Baqarah Verse 261 (2:261:3) يُنْفِقُونَ ينفقون yunfikûne spend ن ف ق
Yusuf Ali (English) The parable of those who spend their substance in the way of Allah is that of a grain of corn: it groweth seven ears, and each ear Hath a hundred grains. Allah giveth manifold increase to whom He pleaseth: And Allah careth for all and He knoweth all things.
24 Al-Baqarah Verse 264 (2:264:4) اٰمَنُوا امنوا âmenû believe[d] أ م ن
Yusuf Ali (English) O ye who believe! cancel not your charity by reminders of your generosity or by injury,- like those who spend their substance to be seen of men, but believe neither in Allah nor in the Last Day(310). They are in parable like a hard, barren rock, on which is a little soil: on it falls heavy rain, which leaves it (Just) a bare stone. They will be able to do nothing with aught they have earned. And Allah guideth not those who reject faith.*

Yusuf Ali (English) Those who (in charity)(323) spend of their goods by night and by day, in secret and in public, have their reward with their Lord: on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.*

Yusuf Ali (English) If anyone desires a religion other than Islam (submission to Allah)(418), never will it be accepted of him; and in the Hereafter He will be in the ranks of those who have lost (All spiritual good).*

Yusuf Ali (English) Muhammad is no more(460) than a messenger: many Were the messenger that passed away before him. If he died or were slain, will ye then Turn back on your heels? If any did turn back on his heels, not the least harm will he do to Allah. but Allah (on the other hand) will swiftly reward those who (serve Him) with gratitude.*
36 Ali 'Imran Verse 145 (3:145:24) الشَّاكِر۪ينَ الشاكرين şşâkirîn(e) the grateful ones ش ك ر
Yusuf Ali (English) Nor can a soul die except by Allah.s leave, the term being fixed as by writing. If any do desire a reward in this life, We shall give it(461) to him; and if any do desire a reward in the Hereafter, We shall give it to him. And swiftly shall We reward those that (serve us with) gratitude.*
37 Ali 'Imran Verse 146 (3:146:21) الصَّابِر۪ينَ الصابرين ssâbirîn(e) the patient ones ص ب ر
Yusuf Ali (English) How many of the prophets fought (in Allah.s way), and with them (fought) Large bands of godly men? but they never lost heart if they met with disaster in Allah.s way, nor did they weaken (in will) nor give in. And Allah Loves those who are firm and steadfast.
38 Ali 'Imran Verse 149 (3:149:13) خَاسِر۪ينَ خاسرين ḣâsirîn(e) (as) losers خ س ر
Yusuf Ali (English) O ye who believe! If ye obey the Unbelievers, they will drive you back on your heels, and ye will turn back (from Faith) to your own loss.
39 Ali 'Imran Verse 151 (3:151:5) كَفَرُوا كفروا keferû disbelieve ك ف ر
Yusuf Ali (English) Soon shall We cast terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers, for that they joined companions with Allah, for which He had sent no authority: their abode will be the Fire: And evil is the home of the wrongdoers!
40 Ali 'Imran Verse 167 (3:167:3) نَافَقُواۚ نافقوا nâfekû (are) hypocrites ن ف ق
Yusuf Ali (English) And the Hypocrites also.(476) These were told: "Come, fight in the way of Allah, or (at least) drive (The foe from your city)." They said: "Had we known how to fight, we should certainly have followed you." They were that day nearer to Unbelief than to Faith, saying with their lips what was not in their hearts but Allah hath full knowledge of all they conceal.*
41 Ali 'Imran Verse 178 (3:178:4) كَفَرُٓوا كفروا keferû disbelieved ك ف ر
Yusuf Ali (English) Let not the Unbelievers think that our respite to them is good for themselves: We grant them respite that they may grow(480) in their iniquity: But they will have a shameful punishment.*

Yusuf Ali (English) Hast thou not turned Thy vision to those who were given a portion(572) of the Book? they believe in sorcery and Evil,(573) and say to the Unbelievers that they are better guided in the (right) way Than the believers!*

Yusuf Ali (English) Not equal are those believers who sit (at home) and receive no hurt, and those who strive and fight in the cause of Allah with their goods and their persons. Allah hath granted a grade higher to those who strive and fight with their goods and persons than to those who sit (at home). Unto all (in Faith)(614) Hath Allah promised good: But those who strive and fight Hath He distinguished above those who sit (at home) by a special reward,-*

Yusuf Ali (English) Not equal are those believers who sit (at home) and receive no hurt, and those who strive and fight in the cause of Allah with their goods and their persons. Allah hath granted a grade higher to those who strive and fight with their goods and persons than to those who sit (at home). Yusuf Ali (English) Except for those who repent, mend (their lives) hold fast to Allah, and purify their religion as in Allah.s sight: if so they will be (numbered)(652) with the believers. And soon will Allah grant to the believers a reward of immense value.*
46 An-Nisa Verse 161 (4:161:11) لِلْكَافِر۪ينَ للكافرين lil-kâfirîne for the disbelievers ك ف ر
Yusuf Ali (English) That they took usury, though they were forbidden; and that they devoured men´s substance wrongfully;- we have prepared for those among them who reject faith a grievous punishment.

(Lawful unto you in marriage) are (not only) chaste women who are believers, but chaste women among the People of the Book,(700) revealed before your time,- when ye give them their due dowers, and desire chastity, not lewdness, nor secret intrigues if any one rejects faith,(701) fruitless is his work, and in the Hereafter he will be in the ranks of those who have lost (all spiritual good).*
50 Al-Ma'idah Verse 8 (5:8:8) شُهَدَٓاءَ شهداء şuhedâe (as) witnesses ش ه د
Yusuf Ali (English) O ye who believe! stand out firmly for Allah, as witnesses(706) to fair dealing, and let not the hatred of others to you make you swerve(707) to wrong and depart from justice. Be just: that is next to piety: and fear Allah. For Allah is well-acquainted with all that ye do.*
