They said: "What affair is this of ours?"(466) Say thou: "Indeed, this affair is wholly Allah.s." They hide in their minds what they dare not reveal to thee. They say (to themselves): "If we had had anything to do with this affair, We should not have been in the slaughter here." Say: "Even if you had remained in your homes, those for whom death was decreed would certainly have gone forth to the place of their death"; but (all this was)(467) that Allah might test what is in your breasts and purge what is in your hearts. For Allah knoweth well the secrets of your hearts.*
6 An-Nisa Verse 25 (4:25:33) مُتَّخِذَاتِ متخذات mutteḣiżâti those who take أ خ ذ
Yusuf Ali (English) If any of you have not the means wherewith to wed free believing women, they may wed believing girls from among those whom your right hands possess:(540) And Allah hath full knowledge about your faith. Ye are one from another: Wed them with the leave of their owners, and give them their dowers, according to what is reasonable: They should be chaste, not lustful, nor taking paramours: when they are taken in wedlock, if they fall into shame, their punishment is half that for free women. This (permission) is for those among you who fear sin; but it is better for you that ye practise self-restraint. And Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.*
7 An-Nisa Verse 34 (4:34:18) لِلْغَيْبِ للغيب lil-ġaybi in the unseen غ ي ب
Yusuf Ali (English) Men are the protectors(545) and maintainers of women, because Allah has given the one more (strength) than the other, and because they support them from their means. Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient, and guard in (the husband´s) absence what Allah would have them guard.(546) As to those women on whose part ye fear disloyalty and ill-conduct, admonish them (first),(547) (Next), refuse to share their beds, (And last) beat them (lightly);(547-A) but if they return to obedience, seek not against them(548) Means (of annoyance): For Allah is Most High, great (above you all).*
8 An-Nisa Verse 114 (4:114:6) نَجْوٰيهُمْ نجويهم necvâhum their secret talk ن ج و
Yusuf Ali (English) In most of their secret talks there is no good: But if one exhorts to a deed of charity or justice or conciliation between men,(625) (Secrecy is permissible): To him who does this, seeking the good pleasure of Allah, We shall soon give a reward of the highest (value).*
9 Al-Ma'idah Verse 5 (5:5:32) اَخْدَانٍۜ اخدان eḣdân(in) secret lovers خ د ن
Yusuf Ali (English) This day are (all) things good and pure made lawful unto you. The food of the People of the Book(699) is lawful unto you and yours is lawful unto them. (Lawful unto you in marriage) are (not only) chaste women who are believers, but chaste women among the People of the Book,(700) revealed before your time,- when ye give them their due dowers, and desire chastity, not lewdness, nor secret intrigues if any one rejects faith,(701) fruitless is his work, and in the Hereafter he will be in the ranks of those who have lost (all spiritual good).*
10 Al-Ma'idah Verse 61 (5:61:16) يَكْتُمُونَ يكتمون yektumûn(e) hiding ك ت م
Yusuf Ali (English) When they come to thee, they say: "We believe": but in fact they enter with a mind against Faith, and they go out with the same but Allah knoweth fully all that they hide.
11 Al-Ma'idah Verse 94 (5:94:17) بِالْغَيْبِۚ بالغيب bil-ġayb(i) in the unseen غ ي ب
Yusuf Ali (English) O ye who believe! Allah doth but make a trial of you in a little matter of game well within reach of your hands and your lances, that He may test(799) who feareth him unseen: any who transgress thereafter, will have a grievous penalty.*
12 Al-Ma'idah Verse 109 (5:109:15) الْغُيُوبِ الغيوب l-ġuyûb(i) (of) the unseen غ ي ب
Yusuf Ali (English) One day will Allah gather the messengers together, and ask: "What was the response ye received (from men to your teaching)?" They will say: "We have no knowledge: it is Thou Who knowest in full all that is hidden.(814)"*

Yusuf Ali (English) And behold! Allah will say: "O Jesus the son of Mary! Didst thou say unto men, worship me and my mother as gods in derogation of Allah.?" He will say: "Glory to Thee! never could I say what I had no right (to say). Had I said such a thing, thou wouldst indeed have known it. Thou knowest what is in my heart, Thou I know not what is in Thine. For Thou knowest in full all that is hidden.(829)*

Yusuf Ali (English) And He is Allah in the heavens and on earth. He knoweth what ye hide, and what ye reveal, and He knoweth the (recompense) which ye earn (by your deeds).(838)*
15 Al-An'am Verse 63 (6:63:10) وَخُفْيَةًۚ وخفية ve ḣufyeten and secretly خ ف ي
Yusuf Ali (English) Say:(885) "Who is it that delivereth you from the dark recesses(886) of land and sea, when ye call upon Him in humility and silent terror:(887) ´If He only delivers us from these (dangers), (we vow) we shall truly show our gratitude´.?"*

Yusuf Ali (English) It is He who created the heavens and the earth in true (proportions):(896) the day He saith, "Be," behold! it is. His word is the truth. His will be the dominion the day the trumpet will be blown. He knoweth the unseen as well as that which is open. For He is the Wise, well acquainted (with all things).*

Yusuf Ali (English) No just estimate of Allah(909) do they make when they say: "Nothing doth Allah send down to man (by way of revelation)" Say: "Who then sent down the Book which Moses brought?- a light and guidance to man:(910) But ye make it into (separate) sheets for show,(911) while ye conceal much (of its contents): therein were ye taught that which ye knew notneither ye nor your fathers." Say: "(Allah) (sent it down)": Then leave them to plunge in vain discourse and trifling.*
18 Al-An'am Verse 120 (6:120:4) وَبَاطِنَهُۜ وباطنه ve bâtineh(u) and the secret ب ط ن

Yusuf Ali (English) In whatever business thou mayest be, and whatever portion thou mayest be reciting from the Qur´an,- and whatever deed ye (mankind) may be doing,- We are witnesses thereof when ye are deeply engrossed therein. Nor is hidden from thy Lord (so much as) the weight of an atom on the earth or in heaven. And not the least and not the greatest of these things but are recorded in a clear Record.(1450)*

Yusuf Ali (English) He said: "O my people! See ye if (it be that) I have a Clear Sign from my Lord, and that He hath sent Mercy unto me from His own presence, but that the Mercy hath been obscured from your sight?(1519) shall we compel you to accept it when ye are averse to it?*

39 Al-Ahzab Verse 37 (33:37:14) وَتُخْف۪ي وتخفي ve tuḣfî But you concealed خ ف ي
Yusuf Ali (English) Behold! Thou didst say to one who had received the grace of Allah(3722) and thy favour: "Retain thou (in wedlock) thy wife, and fear Allah." But thou didst hide in thy heart(3723) that which Allah was about to make manifest: thou didst fear the people, but it is more fitting that thou shouldst(3724) fear Allah. Then when Zaid had dissolved (his marriage) with her, with the necessary(3725) (formality), We joined her in marriage to thee: in order that (in future) there may be no difficulty to the Believers in (the matter of) marriage with the wives(3726) of their adopted sons, when the latter have dissolved with the necessary (formality) (their marriage) with them. And Allah's command must be fulfilled.*
40 Saba Verse 3 (34:3:14) يَعْزُبُ يعزب ya’zubu escapes ع ز ب
Yusuf Ali (English) The Unbelievers say,(3788) "Never to us will come the Hour": Say, "Nay! but most surely, by my Lord,(3789) it will come upon you;- by Him Who knows the unseen,- from Whom is not hidden the least little atom in the heavens or on earth: Nor is there anything less than that, or greater, but is in the Record Perspicuous:(3790)*
41 Fatir Verse 29 (35:29:11) سِرًّا سرا sirran secretly س ر ر
Yusuf Ali (English) Those who rehearse the Book of Allah, establish regular Prayer, and spend (in Charity)(3914) out of what We have provided for them, secretly and openly, hope for a commerce(3915) that will never fail:*

Yusuf Ali (English) ((Allah)) knows of (the tricks) that deceive with the eyes,(4383) and all that the hearts (of men) conceal.(4384)*

Yusuf Ali (English) Those who pervert(4512) the Truth in Our Signs are not hidden from Us. Which is better?- he that is cast into the Fire, or he that comes safe through, on the Day of Judgment? Do what ye will: verily He seeth (clearly) all that ye do.*

Yusuf Ali (English) And thou wilt see them brought forward to the (Penalty), in a humble frame of mind because of (their) disgrace,(4588) (and) looking with a stealthy glance. And the Believers will say: "Those are indeed(4589) in loss, who have given to perdition their own selves and those belonging to them on the Day of Judgment. Behold! Truly the Wrong-doers are in a lasting Penalty!"*
48 Az-Zukhruf Verse 80 (43:80:7) وَنَجْوٰيهُمْۜ ونجويهم ve necvâhum and their private counsel(s) ن ج و
Yusuf Ali (English) Or do they think(4678) that We hear not their secrets and their private counsels? Indeed (We do), and Our messengers are by them, to record.*
