Yusuf Ali (English) "´Throw (the child) into the chest, and throw (the chest) into the river: the river will cast him up on the bank, and he will be taken up by one who is an enemy to Me and an enemy to him´:(2558) But I cast (the garment of) love over thee from Me:(2559) and (this) in order that thou mayest be reared under Mine eye.(2560)*

Yusuf Ali (English) They (Moses and Aaron) said: "Our Lord! We fear lest he hasten with insolence(2569) against us, or lest he transgress all bounds."*

Yusuf Ali (English) He said: "Our Lord is He Who gave to each (created) thing its form and nature, and further, gave (it) guidance."(2573)*
1315 Ta-Ha Verse 60 (20:60:4) كَيْدَهُ كيده keydehu his plan ك ي د
Yusuf Ali (English) So Pharaoh withdrew: He concerted his plan,(2584) and then came (back).*
1316 Ta-Ha Verse 61 (20:61:11) بِعَذَابٍۚ بعذاب bi-’ażâb(in) with a punishment ع ذ ب
Yusuf Ali (English) Moses said to him: Woe to you! Forge not ye a lie against Allah, lest He destroy you (at once) utterly by chastisement: the forger must suffer(2585) frustration!"*

Yusuf Ali (English) They said: "These two are certainly (expert) magicians: their object is to drive you out from your land with their magic, and to do away with your most cherished institutions.(2587)*
1318 Ta-Ha Verse 64 (20:64:2) كَيْدَكُمْ كيدكم keydekum your plan ك ي د
Yusuf Ali (English) "Therefore concert your plan, and then assemble in (serried) ranks: He wins (all along) today who gains the upper hand."(2588)*

Yusuf Ali (English) They said: "O Moses! whether wilt thou that thou throw (first) or that we be the first to throw?"

Yusuf Ali (English) So the magicians were thrown down to prostration: they said, "We believe in the Lord of Aaron and Moses".(2592)*

Yusuf Ali (English) (Pharaoh) said: "Believe ye in Him before I give you permission? Surely this must be your leader, who has taught you magic!(2593) be sure I will cut off your hands and feet on opposite sides, and I will have you crucified on trunks of palm-trees: so shall ye know for certain, which of us can give the more severe and the more lasting punishment!"*

Yusuf Ali (English) They said: "Never shall we regard thee as more than the Clear Sings(2594) that have come to us, or than Him Who created us! so decree whatever thou desirest to decree: for thou canst only decree (touching) the life of this world.(2595)*

Yusuf Ali (English) Pharaoh led his people astray instead of leading them aright.(2600)*
1325 Ta-Ha Verse 87 (20:87:1) قَالُوا قالوا kâlû They said ق و ل
Yusuf Ali (English) They said: "We broke not the promise to thee, as far as lay in our power: but we were made to carry the weight of the ornaments(2607) of the (whole) people, and we threw them (into the fire), and that was what the Samiri suggested.(2608)*

Yusuf Ali (English) "Then he brought out (of the fire) before the (people) the image of a calf:(2609) It seemed to low:(2610) so they said: This is your god, and the god of Moses, but (Moses) has forgotten!"(2611)*
1327 Ta-Ha Verse 89 (20:89:5) اِلَيْهِمْ اليهم ileyhim to them إِلَىٰ
Yusuf Ali (English) Could they not see that it could not return them a word (for answer), and that it had no power either to harm them or to do them good?(2612)*
1328 Ta-Ha Verse 90 (20:90:3) لَهُمْ لهم lehum (to,for) them لَهُم
Yusuf Ali (English) Aaron had already, before this said to them: "O my people! ye are being tested in this:(2613) for verily your Lord is ((Allah)) Most Gracious; so follow me and obey my command."(2614)*

Yusuf Ali (English) (Moses) said: "Get thee gone! but thy (punishment) in this life will be that thou wilt say,(2622) ´touch me not´; and moreover (for a future penalty) thou hast a promise that will not fail:(2623) Now look at thy god, of whom thou hast become a devoted worshipper: We will certainly (melt) it in a blazing fire and scatter it broadcast in the sea!"(2624)*

Yusuf Ali (English) When We said to the angels, "Prostrate yourselves to Adam", they prostrated themselves, but not Iblis: he refused.

Yusuf Ali (English) "Nor to suffer from thirst, nor from the sun´s heat."

Yusuf Ali (English) But his Lord chose him (for His Grace): He turned to him, and gave him Guidance.

Yusuf Ali (English) Is it not a warning to such men (to call to mind) how many generations before them We destroyed, in whose haunts they (now) move? Verily, in this are Signs for men endued with understanding.(2652)*
1337 Ta-Ha Verse 131 (20:131:13) لِنَفْتِنَهُمْ لنفتنهم li-neftinehum that We may test them ف ت ن
Yusuf Ali (English) Nor strain thine eyes in longing for the things We have given for enjoyment to parties of them, the splendour of the life of this world, through which We test them: but the provision of thy Lord(2656) is better and more enduring.*
1338 Ta-Ha Verse 132 (20:132:2) اَهْلَكَ اهلك ehleke (on) your family أ ه ل
Yusuf Ali (English) Enjoin prayer on thy people, and be constant therein. We ask thee not to provide(2657) sustenance: We provide it for thee. But the (fruit of) the Hereafter is for righteousness.*
1339 Ta-Ha Verse 133 (20:133:1) وَقَالُوا وقالوا ve kâlû And they say ق و ل
Yusuf Ali (English) They say: "Why does he not(2658) bring us a sign from his Lord?" Has not a Clear Sign come to them of all that was in the former Books of revelation?*
1340 Ta-Ha Verse 134 (20:134:4) بِعَذَابٍ بعذاب bi-’ażâbin with a punishment ع ذ ب
Yusuf Ali (English) And if We had inflicted on them a penalty before this,(2659) they would have said: "Our Lord! If only Thou hadst sent us a messenger, we should certainly have followed Thy Signs before we were humbled and put to shame."*
1341 Ta-Ha Verse 135 (20:135:5) فَسَتَعْلَمُونَ فستعلمون fe-seta’lemûne Then you will know ع ل م
Yusuf Ali (English) Say: "Each one (of us) is waiting: wait ye, therefore,(2660) and soon shall ye know who it is that is on the straight and even(2661) way, and who it is that has received Guidance."*
1342 Al-Anbiya Verse 2 (21:2:2) يَأْت۪يهِمْ يأتيهم ye/tîhim comes to them أ ت ي
Yusuf Ali (English) Never comes (aught) to them of a renewed Message(2663) from their Lord, but they listen to it as in jest,-*
1343 Al-Anbiya Verse 3 (21:3:3) وَاَسَرُّوا واسروا ve eserrû And they conceal س ر ر
Yusuf Ali (English) Their hearts toying as with trifles. The wrong-doers conceal(2664) their private counsels, (saying), "Is this (one) more than a man like yourselves? Will ye go to witchcraft with your eyes open?"(2665)*
1344 Al-Anbiya Verse 4 (21:4:10) الْعَل۪يمُ العليم l-’alîm(u) the All-Knower ع ل م
Yusuf Ali (English) Say:(2666) "My Lord knoweth (every) word (spoken)(2667) in the heavens and on earth: He is the One that heareth and knoweth (all things)."*
1345 Al-Anbiya Verse 5 (21:5:2) قَالُٓوا قالوا kâlû they say ق و ل
Yusuf Ali (English) "Nay," they say, "(these are) medleys of dream! - Nay, He forged it! - Nay, He is (but) a poet!(2668) Let him then bring us a Sign like the ones that were sent to (Prophets) of old!"*
1346 Al-Anbiya Verse 5 (21:5:14) الْاَوَّلُونَ الاولون l-evvelûn(e) (to) the former أ و ل
Yusuf Ali (English) "Nay," they say, "(these are) medleys of dream! - Nay, He forged it! - Nay, He is (but) a poet!(2668) Let him then bring us a Sign like the ones that were sent to (Prophets) of old!"*
1347 Al-Anbiya Verse 7 (21:7:6) نُوح۪ٓي نوحي nûhî We revealed و ح ي
Yusuf Ali (English) Before thee, also, the messengers We sent were but men, to whom We granted inspiration: If ye realise this not, ask of those who possess the Message.(2670)*
1348 Al-Anbiya Verse 7 (21:7:7) اِلَيْهِمْ اليهم ileyhim to them إِلَىٰ
