Yusuf Ali (English) They ask thee what is lawful to them (as food).(697) Say: lawful unto you are (all) things good and pure: and what ye have taught your trained hunting animals (to catch) in the manner directed to you by Allah. eat what they catch for you,(698) but pronounce the name of Allah over it: and fear Allah. for Allah is swift in taking account.*
56 Al-Ma'idah Verse 28 (5:28:10) اِلَيْكَ اليك ileyk(e) towards you إِلَىٰ
Yusuf Ali (English) "If thou dost stretch thy hand against me, to slay me, it is not for me to stretch my hand against thee to slay thee: for I do fear Allah, the Cherisher of the Worlds.
57 Al-Ma'idah Verse 41 (5:41:27) يَأْتُوكَۜ يأتوك ye/tûk(e) come to you أ ت ي
Yusuf Ali (English) O Messenger. let not those grieve thee, who race each other into unbelief:(744) (whether it be) among those who say "We believe" with their lips but whose hearts have no faith; or it be among the Jews,- men who will listen to any lie,- will listen even to others who have never so much as come(745) to thee. They change the words from their (right) times(746) and places: they say, "If ye are given this, take it, but if not, beware!" If any one´s trial is intended by Allah, thou hast no authority in the least for him against Allah. For such - it is not Allah.s will to purify their hearts. For them there is disgrace in this world, and in the Hereafter a heavy punishment.*
58 Al-Ma'idah Verse 42 (5:42:6) جَٓاؤُ۫كَ جاؤك câûke they come to you ج ي أ
Yusuf Ali (English) (They are fond of) listening to falsehood, of devouring(747) anything forbidden. If they do come to thee, either judge between them, or decline to interfere.(748) If thou decline, they cannot hurt thee in the least. If thou judge, judge in equity between them. For Allah loveth those who judge in equity.*
59 Al-Ma'idah Verse 42 (5:42:16) يَضُرُّوكَ يضروك yadurrûke will they harm you ض ر ر
Yusuf Ali (English) (They are fond of) listening to falsehood, of devouring(747) anything forbidden. To each among you have we prescribed a law and an open way.(760) If Allah had so willed, He would have made you(761) a single people, but (His plan is) to test you in what He hath given you: so strive as in a race in all virtues. The goal of you all is to Allah. it is He that will show you the truth of the matters in which ye dispute;(762)*
61 Al-Ma'idah Verse 48 (5:48:22) جَٓاءَكَ جاءك câeke has come to you ج ي أ

Yusuf Ali (English) And this (He commands): Judge thou between them by what Allah hath revealed, and follow not their vain desires, but beware of them lest they beguile thee from any of that (teaching) which Allah hath sent down to thee. And if they turn away, be assured that for some of their crime it is Allah.s purpose to punish them. And truly most men are rebellious.
63 Al-Ma'idah Verse 64 (5:64:22) اِلَيْكَ اليك ileyke to you إِلَىٰ
Yusuf Ali (English) The Jews say: "(Allah)´s hand(772) is tied up." Be their hands tied up and be they accursed for the (blasphemy) they utter. Nay, both His hands are widely outstretched: He giveth and spendeth (of His bounty) as He pleaseth. But the revelation that cometh to thee from Allah increaseth in most of them their obstinate rebellion(773) and blasphemy. Amongst them we have placed enmity(774) and hatred till the Day of Judgment. Every time they kindle the fire of war, Allah doth extinguish it; but they (ever) strive to do mischief(775) on earth. And Allah loveth not those who do mischief.*
64 Al-Ma'idah Verse 67 (5:67:7) اِلَيْكَ اليك ileyke to you إِلَىٰ
Yusuf Ali (English) O Messenger. proclaim the (message) which hath been sent to thee from thy Lord.(777) If thou didst not, thou wouldst not have fulfilled and proclaimed His mission. And Allah will defend thee from men (who mean mischief). For Allah guideth not those who reject Faith.*
65 Al-Ma'idah Verse 68 (5:68:22) اِلَيْكَ اليك ileyke to you إِلَىٰ
Yusuf Ali (English) Say: "O People of the Book! ye have no ground to stand upon unless ye stand fast by the Law, the Gospel, and all the revelation that has come to you from your Lord." It is the revelation that cometh to thee from thy Lord, that increaseth in most of them their obstinate rebellion and blasphemy. But sorrow thou not over (these) people without Faith.(778)*
66 Al-Ma'idah Verse 110 (5:110:10) عَلَيْكَ عليك ‘aleyke upon you عَلَىٰ
Yusuf Ali (English) Then will Allah say: "O Jesus the son of Mary! Recount My favour(815) to thee and to thy mother. Behold! I strengthened thee(816) with the holy spirit, so that thou didst speak to the people in childhood and in maturity.(817) Behold! I taught thee the Book and Wisdom,(818) the Law and the Gospel and behold! thou didst make(819) out of clay, the figure of a bird, by My leave, and thou didst breathe into it and it becometh a bird by My leave, and thou didst heal those born blind, and the lepers, by My leave. And behold! thou didst bring forth the dead by My leave.(820) And behold! I did restrain the Children of Israel from (violence to) thee(821) when thou didst show them the clear Signs, and the unbelievers among them said: ´This is nothing but evident magic.(822)´*
67 Al-Ma'idah Verse 110 (5:110:23) عَلَّمْتُكَ علمتك ‘allemtuke I taught you ع ل م
Yusuf Ali (English) Then will Allah say: "O Jesus the son of Mary! Recount My favour(815) to thee and to thy mother. Behold! Yusuf Ali (English) If We had sent unto thee a written (message) on parchment,(839-A) so that they could touch it with their hands, the Unbelievers would have been sure to say: "This is nothing but obvious magic!"(840)*

Yusuf Ali (English) "If Allah touch thee with affliction, none can remove it but He; if He touch thee with happiness, He hath power over all things.(849)*

Yusuf Ali (English) Of them there are some who (pretend to) listen to thee; but We have thrown veils on their hearts, So they understand it not,(852-A) and deafness in their ears; if they saw every one of the signs, not they will believe in them; in so much that when they come to thee, they (but) dispute with thee; the Unbelievers say: "These are nothing but tales of the ancients."*
72 Al-An'am Verse 34 (6:34:19) جَٓاءَكَ جاءك câeke has come to you ج ي أ
Yusuf Ali (English) Rejected were the messengers before thee: with patience and constancy they bore their rejection and their wrongs, until Our aid did reach them: there is none that can alter the words (and decrees) of Allah. Already hast thou received some account of those messengers.
73 Al-An'am Verse 35 (6:35:4) عَلَيْكَ عليك ‘aleyke for you عَلَىٰ
Yusuf Ali (English) If their spurning is hard on thy mind, yet if thou wert able to seek a tunnel in the ground or a ladder to the skies and bring them a sign-(856) (what good?). If it were Allah.s will, He could gather them together unto true guidance: so be not thou amongst those who are swayed by ignorance (and impatience)!*
74 Al-An'am Verse 52 (6:52:11) عَلَيْكَ عليك ‘aleyke (is) on you عَلَىٰ
Yusuf Ali (English) Send not away those who call on their Lord morning and evening, seeking His face.(870) In naught art thou accountable for them, and in naught are they accountable for thee,(871) that thou shouldst turn them away, and thus be (one) of the unjust.*
75 Al-An'am Verse 54 (6:54:2) جَٓاءَكَ جاءك câeke come to you ج ي أ
Yusuf Ali (English) When those come to thee who believe in Our signs, Say: "Peace be on you:(873) Your Lord hath inscribed for Himself (the rule(874) of) mercy: verily, if any of you did evil in ignorance, and thereafter repented, and amend (his conduct), lo! He is Oft- forgiving, Most Merciful.*
76 Al-An'am Verse 68 (6:68:15) يُنْسِيَنَّكَ ينسينك yunsiyenneke causes you to forget ن س ي
Yusuf Ali (English) When thou seest men engaged in vain discourse about Our signs, turn away from them unless they turn to a different(891) theme. If Satan ever makes thee forget, then after recollection, sit not thou in the company of those who do wrong.*
77 Al-An'am Verse 106 (6:106:4) اِلَيْكَ اليك ileyke to you إِلَىٰ
Yusuf Ali (English) Follow what thou art taught by inspiration from thy Lord: there is no god but He: and turn aside from those who join gods with Allah.
78 Al-A'raf Verse 2 (7:2:3) اِلَيْكَ اليك ileyke to you إِلَىٰ
Yusuf Ali (English) A Book revealed unto thee,- So let thy heart be oppressed(990) no more by any difficulty on that account,- that with it thou mightest warn (the erring) and teach the Believers).*
79 Al-A'raf Verse 12 (7:12:7) اَمَرْتُكَۜ امرتك emertuk(e) I commanded you أ م ر
Yusuf Ali (English) ((Allah)) said: "What prevented thee from bowing down when I commanded thee?" He said: "I am better than he: Thou didst create me from fire, and him from clay."(998)*
80 Al-A'raf Verse 18 (7:18:7) تَبِعَكَ تبعك tebi’ake follows you ت ب ع
Yusuf Ali (English) ((Allah)) said: "Get out from this, disgraced and expelled. If any of them follow thee,- Hell will I fill with you all.
81 Al-A'raf Verse 101 (7:101:4) عَلَيْكَ عليك ‘aleyke to you عَلَىٰ
Yusuf Ali (English) Such were the towns whose story We (thus) relate unto thee: There came indeed to them their messengers with clear (signs): But they would not believe what they had rejected before.(1070) Thus doth Allah seal up the hearts of those who reject faith.*
82 Al-A'raf Verse 112 (7:112:1) يَأْتُوكَ يأتوك ye/tûke They (will) bring to you أ ت ي
Yusuf Ali (English) And bring up to thee all (our) sorcerers wellversed."( 1078)*
83 Al-A'raf Verse 132 (7:132:11) لَكَ لك leke (for, to, in) you لَكَ
Yusuf Ali (English) They said (to Moses): "Whatever be the Signs thou bringest, to work therewith thy sorcery on us,(1089) we shall never believe in thee.*
84 Al-A'raf Verse 134 (7:134:13) عِنْدَكَۚ عندك ‘indek(e) to you ع ن د
Yusuf Ali (English) Every time the penalty fell on them, they said: "O Moses! on your behalf call on thy Lord in virtue of his promise to thee: If thou wilt remove the penalty from us, we shall truly believe in thee, and we shall send away the Children of Israel with thee."(1092)*
85 Al-A'raf Verse 134 (7:134:19) لَكَ لك leke (for, to, in) you لَكَ
Yusuf Ali (English) Every time the penalty fell on them, they said: "O Moses! on your behalf call on thy Lord in virtue of his promise to thee: If thou wilt remove the penalty from us, we shall truly believe in thee, and we shall send away the Children of Israel with thee."(1092)*

Yusuf Ali (English) When Moses came to the place appointed by Us, and his Lord addressed him, He said: "O my Lord! show (Thyself) to me, that I may look upon Thee."(1102) Allah said: "By no means canst thou see Me (direct); But look upon the mount; if it abide in its place, then shalt thou see Me."(1103) When his Lord manifested His glory on the Mount, He made it as dust. And Moses fell down in a swoon. When he recovered his senses he said: "Glory be to Thee! to Thee I turn in repentance, and I am the first to believe."(1104)*
87 Al-A'raf Verse 143 (7:143:38) اِلَيْكَ اليك ileyke to you إِلَىٰ
Yusuf Ali (English) When Moses came to the place appointed by Us, and his Lord addressed him, He said: "O my Lord! show (Thyself) to me, that I may look upon Thee."(1102) Allah said: "By no means canst thou see Me (direct); But look upon the mount; if it abide in its place, then shalt thou see Me."(1103) When his Lord manifested His glory on the Mount, He made it as dust. Yusuf Ali (English) ((Allah)) said: "O Moses! I have chosen thee above (other) men,(1105) by the mission I (have given thee) and the words I (have spoken to thee): take then the (revelation) which I give thee, and be of those who give thanks."(1106)*
89 Al-A'raf Verse 156 (7:156:0) اِلَيْكَۜ اليك ileyk(e) to You إِلَىٰ
Yusuf Ali (English) "And ordain for us that which is good, in this life and in the Hereafter: for we have turned unto Thee." He said: "With My punishment I visit whom I will; but My mercy extendeth(1125) to all things. That (mercy) I shall ordain for those who do right, and practise regular charity, and those who believe in Our signs;- (1126)*

Yusuf Ali (English) They ask thee about the (final) Hour - when will be its appointed time? Only, all of a sudden will it come to you." They ask thee as if thou Wert eager in search thereof:(1160) Say: "The knowledge thereof is with Allah (alone), but most men know not."*

Only, all of a sudden will it come to you." They ask thee as if thou Wert eager in search thereof:(1160) Say: "The knowledge thereof is with Allah (alone), but most men know not."*

Yusuf Ali (English) If thou callest them to guidance, they hear not. Thou wilt see them looking at thee, but they see not.(1169)*

Yusuf Ali (English) They ask thee(1178) concerning (things taken as) spoils of war. Say: "(such) spoils are at the disposal of Allah(1179) and the Messenger. So fear Allah, and keep straight the relations between yourselves: Obey Allah and His Messenger, if ye do believe."*

Yusuf Ali (English) Remember how the Unbelievers plotted against thee, to keep thee in bonds, or slay thee, or get thee out (of thy home).(1203) They plot and plan, and Allah too plans; but the best of planners(1203-A) is Allah.*
95 Al-Anfal Verse 43 (8:43:0) يُر۪يكَهُمُ يريكهم yurîkehumu you (where) shown them ر أ ي
Yusuf Ali (English) Remember in thy dream Allah showed them to thee as few: if He had shown them to thee as many, ye would surely have been discouraged, and ye would surely have disputed in (your) decision; but Allah saved (you): for He knoweth well the (secrets) of (all) hearts.
96 Al-Anfal Verse 43 (8:43:0) اَرٰيكَهُمْ اريكهم erâkehum He had shown them to you ر أ ي
Yusuf Ali (English) Remember in thy dream Allah showed them to thee as few: if He had shown them to thee as many, ye would surely have been discouraged, and ye would surely have disputed in (your) decision; but Allah saved (you): for He knoweth well the (secrets) of (all) hearts.

Yusuf Ali (English) Should they intend to deceive thee,- verily Allah sufficeth thee: He it is That hath strengthened thee with His aid and with (the company of) the Believers;(1229)*

Yusuf Ali (English) Should they intend to deceive thee,- verily Allah sufficeth thee: He it is That hath strengthened thee with His aid and with (the company of) the Believers;(1229)*
