Yusuf Ali (English) They ask thee concerning fighting in the Prohibited Month(237). Say: "Fighting therein is a grave (offence); but graver is it in the sight of Allah to prevent access to the path of Allah, to deny Him, to prevent access to the Sacred Mosque, and drive out its members(238)." Tumult and oppression(239) are worse than slaughter. Nor will they cease fighting you until they turn you back from your faith if they can. And if any of you Turn back from their faith and die in unbelief, their works will bear no fruit in this life and in the Hereafter; they will be companions of the Fire and will abide therein.*
6 Ali 'Imran Verse 81 (3:81:31) مَعَكُمْ معكم me’akum with you مَعَ
Yusuf Ali (English) Behold! Allah took the covenant of the prophets(416), saying: "I give you a Book and Wisdom; then comes to you a messenger, confirming what is with you; do ye believe in him and render him help." Allah said: "Do ye agree, and take this my Covenant as binding on you?" They said: "We agree." He said: "Then bear witness, and I am with you among the witnesses."*
7 Ali 'Imran Verse 111 (3:111:6) يُقَاتِلُوكُمْ يقاتلوكم yukâtilûkum they fight you ق ت ل
Yusuf Ali (English) They will do you no harm, barring a trifling annoyance; if they come out to fight you, they will show you their backs, and no help shall they get.
8 Ali 'Imran Verse 119 (3:119:11) لَقُوكُمْ لقوكم lekûkum they meet you ل ق ي
Yusuf Ali (English) Ah! ye are those who love them, but they love you not,- though ye believe in the whole of the Book(440). When they meet you, they say, "We believe":(441) But when they are alone, they bite off the very tips of their fingers at you in their rage. Say: "Perish in you rage; Allah knoweth well all the secrets of the heart."*

Yusuf Ali (English) And the Hypocrites also.(476) These were told: "Come, fight in the way of Allah, or (at least) drive (The foe from your city)." They said: "Had we known how to fight, we should certainly have followed you." They were that day nearer to Unbelief than to Faith, saying with their lips what was not in their hearts but Allah hath full knowledge of all they conceal.*

Yusuf Ali (English) But if good fortune comes to you from Allah, they would be sure to say - as if there had never been Ties of affection between you and them - "Oh! I wish I had been with them; a fine thing should I then have made of it!"(590)*

If Allah had pleased, He could have given them power over you, and they would have fought you: Therefore if they withdraw from you but fight you not, and (instead) send you (Guarantees of) peace, then Allah Hath opened no way for you (to war against them).*

Yusuf Ali (English) Others you will find that wish to gain your confidence as well as that of their people: Every time they are sent back(610) to temptation, they succumb thereto: if they withdraw not from you nor give you (guarantees) of peace besides restraining their hands, seize them and slay them wherever ye get them: In their case We have provided you with a clear argument against them.*
17 An-Nisa Verse 92 (4:92:38) بَيْنَكُمْ بينكم beynekum between you ب ي ن
Yusuf Ali (English) Never should a believer kill a believer; but (If it so happens) by mistake,(611) (Compensation is due): If one (so) kills a believer, it is ordained that he should free a believing slave, and pay compensation to the deceased´s family, unless they remit it freely. If the deceased belonged to a people at war with you, and he was a believer, the freeing of a believing slave (Is enough). If he belonged to a people with whom ye have treaty of Mutual alliance, compensation should be paid to his family, and a believing slave be freed. For those who find this beyond their means, (is prescribed) a fast for two months running: by way of repentance to Allah. for Allah hath all knowledge and all wisdom.*
18 An-Nisa Verse 141 (4:141:13) مَعَكُمْۘ معكم me’akum with you مَعَ
Yusuf Ali (English) (These are) the ones who wait and watch about you: if ye do gain a victory from Allah, they say: "Were we not with you?"- but if the unbelievers gain a success, they say (to them): "Did we not gain an advantage over you, and did we not guard you from the believers?" but Allah will judge betwixt you on the Day of Judgment. And never will Allah grant to the unbelievers a way (to triumphs) over the Believers.(650)*
19 Al-Ma'idah Verse 12 (5:12:15) مَعَكُمْۜ معكم me’akum with you مَعَ
Yusuf Ali (English) Allah did aforetime take a covenant from the Children of Israel,(709) and we appointed twelve captains among them. And Allah said: "I am with you: if ye (but) establish regular prayers, practise regular charity, believe in my messengers, honour and assist them, and loan to Allah a beautiful loan,(710) verily I will wipe out from you your evils, and admit you to gardens with rivers flowing beneath; but if any of you, after this, resisteth faith, he hath truly wandered from the path or rectitude."(711)*
20 Al-Ma'idah Verse 53 (5:53:11) لَمَعَكُمْۜ لمعكم leme’akum (were) with you مَعَ
Yusuf Ali (English) And those who believe will say: "Are these the men who swore their strongest oaths by Allah, that they were with you?(766)" All that they do will be in vain, and they will fall into (nothing but) ruin.*
21 Al-An'am Verse 121 (6:121:16) لِيُجَادِلُوكُمْۚ ليجادلوكم li-yucâdilûkum so that they dispute with you ج د ل
Yusuf Ali (English) Eat not of (meats) on which Allah.s name hath not been pronounced: That would be impiety. But the evil ones ever inspire their friends to contend with you if ye were to obey them, ye would indeed be Pagans.
22 Al-A'raf Verse 71 (7:71:23) مَعَكُمْ معكم me’akum with you مَعَ
Yusuf Ali (English) He said: "Punishment and wrath have already(1041) come upon you from your Lord: dispute ye with me over names which ye(1042) have devised - ye and your fathers,- without authority from Allah. then wait: I am amongst you, also waiting."*
23 Al-Anfal Verse 12 (8:12:0) مَعَكُمْ معكم me’akum with you مَعَ
Yusuf Ali (English) Remember thy Lord inspired the angels (with the message): "I am with you: give firmness to the Believers: I will instil terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers: smite ye above their necks and smite all their finger-tips off them."(1189)*
24 Al-Anfal Verse 75 (8:75:0) مَعَكُمْ معكم me’akum with you مَعَ
Yusuf Ali (English) And those who accept Faith subsequently,(1244) and adopt exile, and fight for the Faith in your company,- they are of you. But kindred by blood have prior rights against each other in the Book of Allah.(1245) Verily Allah is well-acquainted with all things.*
25 At-Tawbah Verse 36 (9:36:0) يُقَاتِلُونَكُمْ يقاتلونكم yukâtilûnekum they fight you ق ت ل
Yusuf Ali (English) The number of months(1295) in the sight of Allah is twelve (in a year)- so ordained by Him the day He created the heavens and the earth; of them four are sacred: that is the straight usage. So wrong not yourselves(1296) therein, and fight the Pagans all together as they fight you all together. But know that Allah is with those who restrain themselves.*
26 At-Tawbah Verse 42 (9:42:0) مَعَكُمْۚ معكم me’akum with you مَعَ
Yusuf Ali (English) If there had been immediate gain (in sight), and the journey easy, they would (all) without doubt have followed thee, but the distance was long, (and weighed) on them. They would indeed swear by Allah, "If we only could, we should certainly have come out with you": They would destroy their own souls;(1307) for Allah doth know that they are certainly lying.*
27 At-Tawbah Verse 52 (9:52:0) مَعَكُمْ معكم me’akum with you مَعَ
Yusuf Ali (English) Say: "Can you expect for us (any fate) other than one of two glorious things- (Martyrdom or victory)? But we can expect for you either that Allah will send his punishment from Himself, or by our hands. So wait (expectant); we too will wait with you."(1313)*

Yusuf Ali (English) They say: "Why is not a sign sent down to him from his Lord?" Say: "The Unseen is only for Allah (to know), then wait ye: I too will wait with you."(1408)*

Yusuf Ali (English) Do they then expect (any thing) but (what happened in) the days of the men who passed away before them? Say: "Wait ye then: for I, too, will wait with you."(1484)*

Yusuf Ali (English) "And O my people! Do whatever ye can: I will do (my part):(1594) Soon will ye know who it is on whom descends the penalty of ignominy; and who is a liar! and watch ye! for I too am watching with you!"(1595)*

Yusuf Ali (English) (Jacob) said: "Never will I send him with you until ye swear a solemn oath to me, in Allah.s name, that ye will be sure to bring him back to me unless ye are yourselves hemmed in (and made powerless).(1728) And when they had sworn their solemn oath, he said: "Over all that we say, be Allah the Witness and Guardian!"(1729)*

Yusuf Ali (English) Has not the story reached you, (O people!), of those who (went) before you? - of the people of Noah, and ´Ad, and Thamud? - And of those who (came) after them? None knows them(1882) but Allah. To them came messengers with Clear (Signs); but they put their hands(1883) up to their mouths, and said: "We do deny (the mission) on which ye have been sent, and we are really in suspicious (disquieting) doubt(1884) as to that to which ye invite us."*
34 Al-Kahf Verse 95 (18:95:10) بَيْنَكُمْ بينكم beynekum between you ب ي ن
Yusuf Ali (English) He said: "(The power) in which my Lord has established me is better (than tribute):(2440) Help me therefore with strength (and labour): I will erect a strong barrier between you and them:*

Yusuf Ali (English) He said: "Fear not: for I am with you: I hear and see (everything).

Yusuf Ali (English) Allah said: "By no means! proceed then, both of you, with Our Signs; We are with you, and will listen (to your call).

Yusuf Ali (English) Then there are among men such as say, "We believe in Allah.; but when they suffer affliction in (the cause of) Allah, they treat men´s oppression as if it were the Wrath of Allah. And if help comes (to thee) from thy Lord, they are sure to say,(3433) "We have (always) been with you!" Does not Allah know best all that is in the hearts of all creation?*
38 Ar-Rum Verse 28 (30:28:17) فَاَنْتُمْ فانتم fe-entum so you اَنْتُمْ
Yusuf Ali (English) He does propound to you a similitude from your own (experience):(3535) do ye have partners among those whom your right hands possess, to share as equals in the wealth We have(3536) bestowed on you? Do ye fear(3537) them as ye fear each other? Thus do we explain the Signs in detail to a people that understand.(3538)*
39 Sad Verse 59 (38:59:4) مَعَكُمْۚ معكم me’akum (in) with you مَعَ
Yusuf Ali (English) Here is a troop rushing headlong with you!(4214) No welcome for them! truly, they shall burn in the Fire!*
40 Az-Zukhruf Verse 24 (43:24:12) اُرْسِلْتُمْ ارسلتم ursiltum you are sent ر س ل
Yusuf Ali (English) He said: "What!(4629) Even if I brought you better guidance than that which ye found your fathers following?" They said: "For us, we deny that ye (prophets) are sent (on a mission at all)."*
41 Muhammad Verse 35 (47:35:9) مَعَكُمْ معكم me’akum (is) with you مَعَ
Yusuf Ali (English) Be not weary and faint-hearted, crying for peace, when ye should be(4859) uppermost: for Allah is with you, and will never put you in loss for your (good) deeds.*

Yusuf Ali (English) Those who lagged behind(4883) (will say), when ye (are free to) march and take booty (in war): "Permit us to follow you." They wish to change Allah.s decree: Say: "Not thus(4884) will ye follow us: Allah has already declared(4885) (this) beforehand": then they will say, "But ye are(4886) jealous of us." Nay, but little do they understand (such things).*
43 Al-Fath Verse 22 (48:22:2) قَاتَلَكُمُ قاتلكم kâtelekumu fight you ق ت ل
Yusuf Ali (English) If the Unbelievers should fight you, they would(4900) certainly turn their backs; then would they find neither protector nor helper.*

Yusuf Ali (English) He it is Who created the heavens and the earth in six Days,(5277) and is moreover firmly established on the Throne (of Authority),(5278) He knows what enters within the earth and what comes forth out of it, what comes down from heaven and what mounts up to it. And He is with you wheresoever ye(5279) may be. And Allah sees well all that ye do.*
46 Al-Hadid Verse 14 (57:14:4) مَعَكُمْۜ معكم me’akum with you مَعَ
Yusuf Ali (English) (Those without) will call out, "Were we not with you?"(5292) (The others) will reply, "True! but ye led yourselves into temptation; ye looked forward (to our ruin); ye doubted ((Allah)´s Promise); and (your false) desires deceived you; until there issued the Command of Allah. And the Deceiver deceived you in respect of Allah.(5293)*
47 Al-Hashr Verse 11 (59:11:16) مَعَكُمْ معكم me’akum with you مَعَ
Yusuf Ali (English) Hast thou not observed the Hypocrites say to their misbelieving brethren among the People of the Book? -(5386) "If ye are expelled, we too will go out with you, and we will never hearken to any one in your affair; and if ye are attacked (in fight) we will help you". But Allah is witness(5387) that they are indeed liars.*

49 Al-Hashr Verse 14 (59:14:2) يُقَاتِلُونَكُمْ يقاتلونكم yukâtilûnekum will they fight you ق ت ل
Yusuf Ali (English) They will not fight you (even) together, except in fortified townships, or from behind walls.(5390) Strong is their fighting (spirit) amongst themselves: thou wouldst think they were united, but their hearts are divided:(5391) that is because they are a people devoid of wisdom.*
50 Al-Mumtahanah Verse 4 (60:4:25) وَبَيْنَكُمُ وبينكم ve beynekumu and between you ب ي ن
Yusuf Ali (English) There is for you an excellent example (to follow) in Abraham and those with him,(5413) when they said to their people: "We are clear of you and of whatever ye worship besides Allah. we have rejected you, and there has arisen, between us and you, enmity(5414) and hatred for ever,- unless ye believe in Allah and Him alone": But not when Abraham said to his father: "I will pray for forgiveness(5415) for thee, though I have no power (to get) aught on thy behalf from Allah." (They prayed): "Our Lord!(5416) in Thee do we trust, and to Thee do we turn in repentance: to Thee is (our) Final Goal.*
