| 3 | Al-Baqarah Verse 177 (2:177:49) | وَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | واولئك | ve ulâike | and those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | It is not righteousness that ye turn your faces Towards east or West; but it is righteousness(177)- to believe in Allah(178) and the Last Day, and the Angels, and the Book, and the Messengers; to spend of your substance(179), out of love for Him, for your kin, for orphans, for the needy, for the wayfarer, for those who ask, and for the ransom of slaves; to be steadfast in prayer(180), and practice regular charity; to fulfil the contracts which ye have made; and to be firm and patient(181), in pain (or suffering) and adversity, and throughout all periods of panic. Such are the people of truth, the Allah.fearing.* | |||||
| 4 | Al-Baqarah Verse 217 (2:217:52) | وَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | واولئك | ve ulâike | And those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | They ask thee concerning fighting in the Prohibited Month(237). Say: "Fighting therein is a grave (offence); but graver is it in the sight of Allah to prevent access to the path of Allah, to deny Him, to prevent access to the Sacred Mosque, and drive out its members(238)." Tumult and oppression(239) are worse than slaughter. Nor will they cease fighting you until they turn you back from your faith if they can. And if any of you Turn back from their faith and die in unbelief, their works will bear no fruit in this life and in the Hereafter; they will be companions of the Fire and will abide therein.* | |||||

| Yusuf Ali (English) | Those who reject Faith,- neither their possessions nor their (numerous) progeny will avail them aught against Allah. They are themselves but fuel for the Fire. | |||||
| 6 | Ali 'Imran Verse 90 (3:90:12) | وَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | واولئك | ve ulâike | and those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | But those who reject Faith after they accepted it, and then go on adding to their defiance of Faith,- never will their repentance be accepted; for they are those who have (of set purpose) gone astray. | |||||
| 7 | Ali 'Imran Verse 104 (3:104:12) | وَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | واولئك | ve ulâike | and those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | Let there arise out of you a band of people inviting to all that is good, enjoining what is right, and forbidding what is wrong: They are the ones to attain felicity(431).* | |||||

| Yusuf Ali (English) | Be not like those who are divided amongst themselves and fall into disputations after receiving Clear Signs: For them is a dreadful penalty- | |||||
| 9 | Ali 'Imran Verse 114 (3:114:13) | وَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | واولئك | ve ulâike | And those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | They believe in Allah and the Last Day; they enjoin what is right, and forbid what is wrong; and they hasten (in emulation) in (all) good works: They are in the ranks of the righteous. | |||||
| 10 | Ali 'Imran Verse 116 (3:116:13) | وَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | واولئك | ve ulâike | and those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | Those who reject Faith,- neither their possessions nor their (numerous) progeny will avail them aught against Allah. They will be companions of the Fire,- dwelling therein (forever).(438)* | |||||
| 11 | At-Tawbah Verse 10 (9:10:0) | وَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | واولئك | ve ulâike | And those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | In a Believer they respect not the ties either of kinship or of covenant! It is they who have transgressed all bounds.(1258)* | |||||
| 12 | At-Tawbah Verse 20 (9:20:0) | وَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | واولئك | ve ulâike | And those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | Those who believe, and suffer exile and strive with might and main, in Allah's cause,(1270) with their goods and their persons, have the highest rank in the sight of Allah. they are the people who will achieve (salvation).* | |||||
| 13 | At-Tawbah Verse 69 (9:69:0) | وَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | واولئك | ve ulâike | And those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | As in the case of those before you: they were mightier than you in power, and more flourishing in wealth and children. They had their enjoyment of their portion: and ye have of yours, as did those before you; and ye indulge in idle talk as they did. They!- their work are fruitless in this world and in the Hereafter, and they will lose (all spiritual good). | |||||

They are those who deny their Lord! They are those round whose necks will be yokes (of servitude):(1809) they will be Companions of the Fire, to dwell therein (for aye)!* | |||||

| Yusuf Ali (English) | Those are they whose hearts, ears, and eyes Allah has sealed up,(2146) and they take no heed.* | |||||
| 20 | An-Nur Verse 4 (24:4:17) | وَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | واولئك | ve ulâike | And those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | And those who launch a charge against chaste women, and produce not four witnesses (to support their allegations),- flog them with eighty stripes; and reject their evidence(2958) ever after: for such men are wicked transgressors;-* | |||||
| 21 | An-Nur Verse 51 (24:51:16) | وَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | واولئك | ve ulâike | And those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | The answer of the Believers, when summoned to Allah and His Messenger, in order that He may judge between them, is no other than this: they say, "We hear and we obey":(3027) it is such as these that will attain felicity.(3028)* | |||||
| 22 | Al-'Ankabut Verse 23 (29:23:10) | وَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | واولئك | ve ulâike | And those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | Those who reject the Signs of Allah and the Meeting with Him (in the Hereafter),- it is they who shall despair of My Mercy: it is they(3443) who will (suffer) a most grievous Penalty.* | |||||
| 23 | Ar-Rum Verse 38 (30:38:14) | وَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | واولئك | ve ulâike | And those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | So give what is due to kindred, the needy, and the wayfarer. That is best for those who seek the Countenance,(3550) of Allah, and it is they who will prosper.(3551)* | |||||
| 24 | Luqman Verse 5 (31:5:6) | وَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | واولئك | ve ulâike | and those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | These are on (true) guidance(3583) from their Lord: and these are the ones who will prosper.* | |||||
| 25 | Az-Zumar Verse 18 (39:18:10) | وَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ | واولئك | ve ulâike | and those | أُولَٰئِكَ |
| Yusuf Ali (English) | Those who listen to the Word, and follow the best (meaning) in it:(4269) those are the ones whom Allah has guided, and those are the ones endued with understanding.* | |||||
