isnad (chain of narrators)   text

Muhammad Muhsin Khan (1997)
Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "(There is) no 'Adwa (no contagious disease is conveyed without Allah's permission). nor is there any bad omen (from birds), nor is there any Hamah, nor is there any bad omen in the month of Safar, and one should run away from the leper as one runs away from a lion." Note: The majority of scholars interpret this to mean that these things in and of themselves do not transmit or cause harm through supernatural or hidden means but that Allah is ultimately in control and any fearful superstition around these is false.
Chain of Narrators
Chain of Narrators (Isnad)

The chain is ordered from the source of the saying to the compiler: 1 = the speaker/first transmitter, the following links those who passed it on in turn, and at the bottom al-Bukhari who compiled the work. Click a narrator to list every hadith in which he appears; the number in parentheses is how many hadiths across the collections on this site the narrator appears in.

  1. 1Abu Hurairah (2252 hadiths) Source of the saying semi'tu
  2. 2Sa'id bin Myna (18 hadiths) haddesenâ
  3. 3Selîm b. Hayyân (18 hadiths) haddesenâ
  4. 4'Affan bin Muslim (65 hadiths) kâle
  5. 5Compiler Muhammad ibn Isma'il al-Bukhari
Chain length: 4 narrators.
Narrator names are parsed automatically from the isnad; identity matching and biographies (death year, jarh wa ta'dil) are being added progressively.
